Marketing in Person – Fleet Managers For fleets it's best if you can approach them in person in which case you would want to have your business card, brochure, price list in hand when meeting them, you would say something to the effect of : "Hi, my name is Eric, I own and operate "Melrics Mobile Lube" I would like to introduce myself and see if you would be interested in having your fleet serviced onsite. If you have a few moments I would like to talk with you, explain our service, the benefits to you and discuss prices. I could show our equipment to you if you’d like and even provide a free oil change so you can see how it works for yourself. If they are agreeable you want to then explain the services you provide including additional services. Let them know that you are providing convenience. Not only service at their location, but also their time frame, before - during or after regular business operating hours. Explain that you will set up a schedule to fit their needs, weekly, monthly, every 3 months, at whatever needed basis they choose. Also explain that you will contact them to set up the next appointment date a week in advance. This is an added benefit for them, they will not even need to keep track of when they need service. You will take care of the tracking for them so they have one less thing to worry about! *N/A for a weekly schedule where you would automatically be there the same day and time each week. When discussing prices let them know that the price you charge is a discounted fleet price. (fleet managers will always ask for a discount so let them know up-front that the price has already been discounted for them). They may try to “talk you down”, this is where you need to make a judgement call. If they don’t want a full 12 point service then that’s an easy one. Find out exactly what they do want and adjust your price to fit. If they do want the full service but at a lower price you need to decide if the account is worth it. Marketing in Person – Fleet Managers

For fleets it's best if you can approach them in person in which case you would want to have your business card, brochure, price list in hand when meeting them, you would say something to the effect of :

"Hi, my name is Eric, I own and operate "Melrics Mobile Lube" I would like to introduce myself and see if you would be interested in having your fleet serviced onsite.

Do they have 30, 40, 50 vehicles that would be serviced regularly? That might be worth knocking off another dollar per vehicle. If they only have ten vehicles, think about it, don’t underpay yourself by taking “panic accounts” just to gain customers if it means you are cutting your profits. There are other fleets out there!

If everything goes well, yes they want your service, the price has been agreed on, now it’s time to set up the schedule. Also, in some cases they prefer a designated area for the service to be preformed. If so, take a walk with the fleet manager and agree on that area. Now it’s time to shake hands, tell them that someone will call them tomorrow to set up your first scheduled visit.

If it didn’t all go quite this way, maybe they seem interested but haven’t committed that’s ok. Leave them with a business card, brochure, price list, a firm handshake and a smile. They may call in a few days, even if they don’t, you have gained more experience in the “art of marketing”. It gets easier and goes smoother with practice!

Marketing in Person – Human Resource Managers

If you happen to enter an office where the HR Manager is able to talk with you right then be prepared! You want to have your business card, brochure, price list and copy of your insurance in hand when meeting them. Now you would say something to the effect of :

"Hi, my name is Eric, I own and operate "Melrics Mobile Lube" I would like to introduce myself and see if you would be interested in allowing us to provide onsite service as a benefit to your employees at no cost to your company. If you have a few moments I would like to talk with you, explain our service and show you how we can do this with no workplace disruption. After that I could show you our equipment if you’d like and even provide a free oil change so you can see how it works for yourself.”

If they are agreeable you want to then explain the services you provide including additional services. Explain that you will set up a schedule to fit their needs, usually monthly, same day each month. (That helps the employees to remember when you will be coming so they can check their vehicle, their spouses or other family members to see who is due for service.)

Show them a sign-up sheet and key/payment envelope. Explain that the contact person (usually the HR manager) will post the sign up-sheets a week before the agreed service date. Also explain that you will contact them via phone or email a week in advance to remind them to post the sign-up sheets. Ask that they fax the sign-up sheet by noon the day before service so you can be prepared.

When discussing prices let them know that the price you are charging is a discounted “fleet” price. You may want to offer half price service to the contact person as a “perk” to thank them for their help in making this possible.

If everything goes well, yes they want your service, the price has been agreed on, now it’s time to set up a designated area in the lot where service will be preformed. Ask them if they would take a walk with you so you can agree on that area. Ask them to please communicate with their employees and stress that employees must park in that area on service date to receive service.

You will also want to designate the drop off and return location for the key/payment envelopes. Usually this is with the receptionist or information desk that is central to the entrance of the building. No doubt you will be introduced to that person and the arrangement will be explained to them. Shake their hand and thank them in advance for their help in this effort as well.

Now it’s time to shake hands, tell them that someone will call them tomorrow to set up your first scheduled visit. And that you will stop by before that date to drop off a supply of sign up sheets and key/payment envelopes.

If it didn’t all go quite this way, maybe they seem interested but haven’t committed that’s ok. Leave them with a business card and brochure, a firm handshake and a smile. They may call in a few days, but even if they don’t, you have gained more experience in the “art of marketing”. It gets easier and goes smoother with practice!

Page 7: Mobile lube forms,etc

Here is how we do our key envelopes to give you an example.

We print labels to put on them for the customer to fill out. The label we use is Avery 5264 the size is 3&1/3” X 4”

Put these on a 6 X 9 clasp envelope (brown or white doesn’t matter, brown costs less!)

The clasp is important so the person can put their keys and payment in and close. The customer then leaves the envelope at the designated area. After service you put keys, copy of invoice and any change back in same envelope to return.

Selson 3 bag air jacks are great for tire rotations but they are expensive at apx. 500.00 each you may want to look into them later on.
