Minnesota Political Action G u n O w n e r s Committee Ramsey County Elections POBox 64098 Saint Paul MN 55164-0098 November 5,2015 Dear Sir or Madam: We're writing to understand the county's stance on the possession and/or carrying of firearms in a polling place in Ramsey County by a person carrying a firearm under MN Statute 624.714. November 3'"'^, 2015 was election day in Minnesota. One of our supporters was voting at Nativity Church in Saint Paul when he saw what appeared to be an official Ramsey County sign banning the possession of firearms at the polling location. A second supporter saw a similar sign at another polling location (see enclosed photo]. A later review of the 2015 "Polling Place Reference Guide" published by your office indicates that "firearms and explosives" are prohibited in polling places (pg 55]. With that as background, we'd like to understand the following, in writing, to determine our next course of action: 1. What is the policy of Ramsey County elections in regards to the lawful carry of a firearm under the Minnesota Permit to Carry law (MN 624.714] in a polling place? 2. Please provide us with a copy of your written policy on this matter. 3. Under what legal authority do you post signs at polling places and/or have a policy in place banning firearms?
