MINUTES:Thank you for the snacks and refreshments. Dr. Gary Peluso-Verdend challenged us with the second of two lessons on Anger & Love. During his lesson, Gary referenced writings and TED talks by author Brene Brown. He sent me links to two of her TED talks, which he said that he cannot recommend highly enough. Since we have not yet sold the paintings that David Cooley generously donated, we are exploring other options of potentially selling them through Ziegler’s or Richard Neel Interiors. If anyone else has suggestions for methods to sell them, please contact Ed or Judith Payton.



SOCIALS:Drive-In Movie on September 9th – Our next social will be to all go to the movies together in our cars, the way we used to do. We’ll take lawn chairs and sit outside and talk and laugh and eat and drink and (maybe) watch the movie. Contact Judith Payton if you can attend.

MISSIONS:



WORKING COMPASSION DINNERS DURING AUGUST AND OCTOBER: Our mission projects for October will be to work at BAUMC’s Compassion Dinners. There are lots of ways in which each of us can serve, depending upon how much time we have available, so watch for the sign-up sheets to come around during class and choose your spot. These are profound experiences that will touch you deeply. If you have questions, please contact Glenna Arnott.

Boston Ave. is blessed to have Patty Banes directing the preschool. We are so fortunate! She is amazing.



- For Deaconess Becky Louter, the Executive Secretary for the UMW office of Deacons & home missioner, who has been battling breast cancer for a number of years, and missed our national convocation because she is hospitalized & quite ill.- For the Rowlan family. Dr. Alan R. Rowlan, MD, was found shot to death in his backyard in OKC on Friday. Wake is Tues at 6:30 & funeral at 11:00 on Wed. in OKC.- For Robert Fortner who had bone marrow biopsy, looking for leukemia, very ill with 6% kidney function only.



- For Charlie Goble/Goble family. Pray for my Dad; my family as we grieve the passing of my mom, Paulette R. Goble. She is pain free, cancer free; dancing with Jesus. Pray for peace; healing for my Dad as he’s lost his best friend of 44 years. - For Paulette Goble, who passed away 2 days ago. May she rest in peace and be well with Jesus as her Lord.

SISTEMA TULSA CONCERT - The Simon Bolivar String Quartet will play a benefit concert on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. at BAUMC to benefit our own Sistema Tulsa. Over 500 women attend this festive luncheon which includes a huge silent auction, live auction, scrumptious food and a fun fashion show. All proceeds from this Luncheon benefit the various organizations that the Salvation Army serves, including the Center of Hope, the Adult Rehabilitation Center, the area Boys & Girls Clubs, and the Angel Tree program. Two lucky ladies from

CLASS DISCUSSION GUIDELINES - We are a large class with many people who have lots of interesting things to say. In order to give everyone an opportunity to voice their comments, we are incorporating into our weekly lessons the discussion guidelines that Marita Morgan taught us: (1) Only one comment per person per class. (2) Economy of words. (3). Speak loudly so




everyone has an opportunity to hear you. Thank you for adhering to these discussion guidelines so that we will all have an opportunity to participate in the discussions and benefit from hearing each other.
