MMI Organizational Facts• 1922 – founded as the Hattie Baker Munroe Home for Convalescing Crippled

Children.• 2009 – One of the 8 academic units at UNMC (COM, CON, COD, COP, CPH,

• More than 70,000 yearly services (75% takes place in the community)

• Over 50 provider locations across the state (>40 outside Omaha)

• More than 50 types of services provided

• More than 55,000 genetic tests, 130 types of genetics tests provided

to 49 states nationwide and to 4 international locations

• Compliance review completed, measures implemented

• New patient-friendly waiting room at yellow canopy entrance

• Monitor with bilingual messaging at waiting room area

• Drastically reduced patient waiting times in Psychology and Genetic

Medicine

• MMI approved as the designated state entity (DSE) for Nebraska's federal

Part B independent living funding.

• Expansion of the ACT Clinic (Autism Care for Toddlers) Program

• Full Speech Language Pathology contract with Nebraska Medicine

• OT/PT contract with Nebraska Medicine small bowel transplant team

• New embedded provider (psychologist) in Norfolk and Grand Island

• Occupational Therapy provided Hand-Arm Bimanual Intensive Therapy

(HABIT) camp.

• Pediatric Feeding Disorders launched SEEDS (Starting Early: Eating and

Developmental Skills).

• Lois, Starr, M.D., and cardiologist Anji Yetman, M.D., initiated a

Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic for the evaluation of patients with genetic

disorders affecting the aorta.
