Trial Date
Is Debated MILWAUKEE, Wis. W —,
Circtat Judge Eton* T. Roller ordered the N a t i o n a l League S a t u r d a y to sbotf cause wfcy the trla*.<&ate for W i s c o n s i n ' s anti-tnwt suit should not be advanced.
Roller had set the date last, week'for March 7. But Saturday he signed an order to the National League to show cause at 10 a,m. Monday why the trial should not be advanced no later than Feb. 21. '*
The Jurist acted at the request of Wizard S. Stafford, special counsel for the Wisconsin attorney general;
Earlier Saturday, Atty. Gen. Bronson la Follette said he would seek the earlier trial date because of the league's "open defiance" of the Wisconsin court.
Warren Giles, president of the league, said Friday the league had authorized the Braves to fulfill their obligation in Atlanta and disregarded an.order issued by Judge Roller Thursday instructing the Braves to prepare to play in Milwaukee tfhis season.
' In view of the open defiance by the National League, of the lawful orders of the Wisconsin court," La Follette said, "the State of Wisconsin will request Judge Elmer Rol-ler to advance the trial date cf March 7 so that effective relief may be obtained wel-l in advance of the baseball sea-son.
The Braves had asked that the trial date.be postponed to June 1 and the state had pressed for a start of the proceedings this week.
