M.A. Rangoonwala College of Physiotherapy and Research was established in the academic year 2004-2005 under the aegis of Maharashtra Medical Educatoin & Research Center (M M E & RC) Permission of State Government vide order No MED-1399/CR/117/99 dated 29th October 2002 is granted & the college is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik & is registered under the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (I.A.P). College has recognization from Maharashtra Council of Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy.

Bachlelor of Physiotherapy Degree is awarded after the completion of 4 1/2 years course. College has an intake capacity of 30 students at the under Graduate level. Masters of Physiotherapy Degree is awarded after the completion of 3 years Course. College has an intake capacity of 2 Students.

CO – CURRICULAR ACTIVITES FROM APRIL 2010 – MARCH 2011

Physiotherapy Camp was held at Snehalay a Institute for the Handicapped, Wagholi. Staff & Students attended the camp.

Physiotherapy Camp was organised at Khadki Bazaar. Staff, interns & students attended the same.

Free Physiotherapy Camp was organized at Pune Gramin wireless office, Pashan

for Retired Police officers on 30th May, 2010. Educational seminar on Opportunites Abroad was organised in the college. Staff

& students attended the same. Free Physiotherapy Camp was organized at Swargate Bus Depot for PMT Bus

drivers on 12th June, 2010. 74 PMT staff attended the camp. Physiotherapy Camp was organized at Inamdar Superspeciality hospital for

warkaries on 7th & 8th July 2010. About 200 patients received physiotherapy treatment.

New session started on 21st July, 2010 for II, III and IV BPTH students. For Ist

B.P.Th session started from 15th September, 2010.

For Academic Year 2010 -11 we have 30 admissions to Ist B.P.Th.

In september-2010, Physiotherapy camp was organized at a Church in Kirkee, Pune. Staff & students attended the camp.

On 28th December-2010, free Physiotherapy camp was organized at college OPD. On 13th February 2011, Free Physiotherapy camp was organized at Kirkee. There

was good response to camp.

Total 8 camps were organized from April 2010-March 2011. 3 staff members attended the Annual Indian Association of Physiotherapists

Conference held in January, 2011. 3 Papers were presented at the Annual conference.

We have recently got permission from N.M Wadia Institute of Cardiology &

Inamdar Superspeciality hospital to send our interns for Clinical Posting. This would further increase the exposure of our students.

From 2008 to 2009, percentage increase in no of patients attending the

Physiotherapy OPD was 28.70 % & from 2009 to 2010, percentage increase was 22.62%.

SPORTS AND EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (APRIL 2010-MARCH 2011)

September 2010 - Students arranged Iftar Party. October 2010 - Fresher’s Party was organized to welcome First Year B.P.Th.students Febrauary 2011 - Inter college sports Meet was organized where students from 4 Physiotherapy College in Pune participated in various sports.

- Students participated in AFMC sports Meet & were runners- up in the game of cricket

March 2011 - Farewell was given to interns by college students. - Prize distribution ceremony was held where academic & sports

Prizes where given. Chief Guest was Dr. Mourya from NIV, Pune. Guest of Honour was Mrs. Mumtaz Peerbuoy.
