Dear MMDA Members,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am delighted to update you on the activities of our chapter. Currently,the Board is monitoring state legislative sessions and willing to provide advocacy as needed. With this, Iencourage you to actively participate in events such as our monthly COVID-19 updates. In February, theChapter hosted a special 2-hour CME/CMD symposium with updates on COVID-19 prevalence - vaccineresponse, monoclonal antibody therapies, and consumer perspective from the CEO of Maryland Leading Age.In addition, we had a discussion of compassionate care during this COVID-19 pandemic. Members areencouraged to participate and submit topics and propose speakers for future COVID-19 updates.
The Education Committee, chaired by Dr. Damien Doyle and Ms. Vycki Nalls, has prepared a stellar and diverseannual educational conference for Friday, November 12 and Saturday, November 13, 2021. The conference willhave one-to-two-hour sessions for CME/CMD credits on topics of most interest to members. If there is a topicyou would like to have at the conference, please submit your suggestion(s) to [email protected].
I invite each and every member to engage with the organization's members in support of quality post-acuteand long-term care in our Delaware/Maryland/Washington, DC region.

We are looking forward to the 2021 Annual Conference - mark it on your calendar for November 12-13, 2021!
We will have regulatory updates, year in review, and novel topics presented by interdisciplinary colleagues,
such as stroke rehabilitation management and healthcare disparities in PALTC and palliative care. A focus on
palliative wound care and documentation will also be included. We look forward to seeing you there.
We had a successful "off-cycle" CME/CMD virtual conference in February that was well attended. We hope
you will join us for future CME/CMD events!

Call for MMDA Board Nominations - The nominating committee requests nominations for the MMDA Board
of Directors. To be considered, please submit a one-page (not more than one page) curriculum vitae to
include your current position/employer, board positions you hold/held in organized medicine, such as MMDA
or AMDA, and any other leadership positions you hold/held in professional and civic organizations.

awards for 2021. Barbara Resnick, PhD, RN, CRNP, FAAN, FANNP, is the recipient of the William Dodd
Founder's Award for Distinguished Service; Michele Bellantoni, MD, CMD is the recipient of the James Pattee
Award for Excellence in Education.
