What We Do For over 10 years, the Education Counseling Center has been dedicated to carrying out this mission for young people ages 17- 24 through job training and certification programs, high school equivalency classes & TASC testing, internship & job placement, and other supportive services designed to help young people succeed in the workforce and post-secondary education. TheEducationalCounselingCenterunderstandswhatittakestobesuccessfulintheworkforce.Wescreen,trainandevaluateeveryinternandplacethemonapaththatleadstosuccessintheworkforce.Businessescandependonusasaresourcefortalentedandskilledinternsandpotentialemployees.OurinternshipparticipantsarePAIDthroughfundingfromtheNYCDepartmentofYouthandCommunityDevelopment,atnocosttothebusinessesweserve.

Opportunities for Youth Ages 17–24:

Culinary Arts TrainingOurstudentslearnfoodsanitationandsafetyforthefoodserviceindustry.Ahands-onapproachinourindustrialkitchen,alongsideexperiencedchefs,inadditiontoclassroominstruction,giveourstudentstheedgeinthisgrowingmarket.Theyreceiveon-the-jobexperiencethroughpaidinternships.Graduatesofthisprogramgoontoworkinalltypesofrestaurants,forcateringcompaniesandfranchises.

Young Adult Internship ProgramParticipantschoosefromalargerangeofinternshipoptionsinboththepublicandprivatesector.Participantsgainon-the-jobskillstoworkincustomerservice,retail,humanresources,andmanyotherexcitingcareers!

Opportunity YouthParticipantsattendABEand/orHSEclasseswhilesimultaneouslyinterningatsitesandexploringcareeroptions.

College BoundParticipantsreceiveindividualizedassistancetomakewell-informeddecisionsonhighereducation,andtoensurethattheireducationplanscoincidewiththeirfuturecareers.
