PHOEBE THE COMFORT DOG Phoebe is coming back to visit us this Sunday! During the Bible Study hour stop by to talk to them and explore the possibility of having a Comfort Dog of our own here at Memorial. Comfort Dogs are service dogs that allow people to go into hospitals, schools, and other places where we might not normally be easily welcomed. They are known to be present after tragedies like school shootings, tornados, and hurricanes. They allow us to provide comfort, care, and prayer for those in need. If you love caring for people, Jesus, and dogs – you should check this out! BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND MLC has welcomed so many new families since our last directory that its time to update it. While this won’t happen overnight, we are looking for 2-3 people to head up the project. One of the first things these folks will be responsible for is to investigate self-publishing. Please contact Pastor John, Vicar Mike or Jody if interested. PUT ON A NAMETAG!! Beginning this Sunday and through the month of May we are going to bless the folks around us by wearing nametags. When you come into church grab a nametag, write your name on it and slap it on your chest. Then, take every chance you can get to call everyone by their first name! May is NAMETAG MONTH! TOMORROW NIGHT!! WELCOME TO MEMORIAL! This class is a great way to meet other new folks, find out how to plug in here at Memorial, hear from the leaders of the church about the vision and mission of Memorial, and find out about our exciting future plans for the new preschool building! STARTING THIS TUESDAY!! Know anyone interested in learning English or polishing up their skills? Pastor Dimas will lead a new class here at Memorial beginning Tuesday, May 5 th which will meet in the Loomis Center from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. It is anticipated this will run three-four months. BLOOD DRIVE!! Time flies, doesn’t it?? Who can believe it is May? Well, this just provides us another opportunity to donate blood to help others who are in need. • NEWS FROM

    VICAR MIKE

    Young(er) Couples Group

    Starting Thursday, May

    7th @ 6:30pm

    Are you a Young(er)

    Couple? Looking for a way

to plug-in, grow in your walk with Christ, and form

friendships with other couples? Beginning on Thursday

May 7th from 6:30pm until 8:00pm we are excited to

announce a new group is forming that's designed

specifically for Young(er) Couples! Kids or no kids, 10

years of marriage or only 10 months, this group is for

you. Young(er) Couples with kids will have childcare

provided for only $2.50 per night (TOTAL) regardless of

the number of children you have. We will start with some

fellowship activities so couples can get to know each other

and then we will dig into God's Word together and learn

more about living as a family of disciples in the Kingdom

of God. Make plans now to be here on Thursday nights as

we gather Young(er) Couples together to strengthen and

support Christian friendships & families! Questions? -

MLCS WOMEN IN MISSION group has decided to put "Homeless Bags" together for our June mission

project. So many people in need are standing on street

corners in our area. While items well gather may not be an exact match to their needs, it would at least let them

know we care and that God cares for them. We ask for

    donations of the following:

    bottled water

    travel/hotel sized soap/body wash/shampoo

    toothbrushes/toothpaste

    socks (assorted mens/womens)

snack bars/crackers (no nuts/peanut butter due to possible allergic reactions)

To reinforce Gods love and care, we will include devotions or unused Portals of Prayer in the bags. There

will be a receptacle set up in the Welcome Center for your

    donations.

We know that the congregation is called upon often to

support various missions and projects, but we also know

that, as a congregation, we are truly blessed with so very

many generous and giving hearts! All donations will be

greatly appreciated and will certainly touch the lives of

many less fortunate than ourselves. If you would rather give

a monetary donation for items to be purchased, please see

    Sue Harrison or Donna Gruetzmacher.

Prayers for our group are always appreciated, too, as we

strive to serve both the members of our church family and

those in our community who need so desperately to be

reached! Thanks and blessings to all of you!
