ThermoplasticValvesIt has become standard industry prac-tice to refer to PVC valves as eitherschedule 80 (grey) or schedule 40(white). However, because valves arerated by pressure not by wall thick-ness this is really inaccurate. The wallthickness of pipe changes the insidediameter and not the outside diame-ter so all PVC valves fit both schedule80 and 40 pipe. PVC resin can bemade any color.
Legend schedule 80 valves (grey) aremanufactured with UPVC resin (unplas-ticized polyvinyl chloride) whichincreases the tensile strength of plastic.All schedule 80 ball valves use Teflonseats for greater chemical resistance.Our schedule 40 valves (white) aremanufactured with PVC resin (polyvinylchloride). The schedule 40 ball valvesuse EPDM seats making them competi-tive, yet reliable. Be sure to ask yourPVC valve supplier what resin is beingused. You may be receiving a PVCvalve that has been made grey.
