CLINICAL EXPERIENCE Total no. of years in Anaesthesiology – 40 years I have been working in the field of Anaesthesiology for nearly 40years which include my training years from January 1976 – January 1982. Since Feb. 1982 I have been holding academic position at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi on various capacities and presently as an Professor, since April 2003. I have a wise and varied experience in various areas of Anaesthesiology both in adult as well as in Paediatrics. I had advanced training in adult as well as Paediatric Anaesthesia for two years (1992 – 1994) at the McGill University health Centre, Montreal Canada. I also worked as a Staff Anaesthesiologist (Asstt. Professor) for nearly one year (2001-2002) at the Montreal Children Hospital, Montreal, Canada. All India Institute is one of the premier institutes of the country and has nearly 2200 beds. It is a tertiary care hospital and provides services to all age groups from neonate to geriatric. Experience in Adult Anaesthesia I have been working in all the surgical specialities like General Surgery, Orthopaedic, Obstetrics, Urological, Plastic, Transplant (Renal, Liver) ENT, Cancer, Thoracic, Gynaecological, Ophthalmology, Dental surgery, Trauma etc. I have wide spread experience in various regional anaesthesia techniques and acute pain. I have also worked during the initial years in the cardiac and Neuro Anesthesia as a consultant during 1983-86. Cardiac and Neuro Deptt got separated from the main deptt and were shifted in a separate building in year 1986. Experience in paediatric anaesthesia I have a special interest in Paediatric Anaesthesia and I have been working in paediatric anaesthesia on an average two to three days in a week for the last more than twenty five years. We at the institute provide anaesthesia to about more than 7000 children in a year. I am the senior most member of the department doing Paediatric Anaesthesia. Various areas includes paediatric General surgery, plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate, Neonatal, Urology, Orthopaedic, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dental and Radiological procedures etc. I have special interest in various paediatric regional anaesthesia technique which includes caudal, spinal epidurals catheters and other regional anaesthesia techniques like penile, ilioinguinal – hypogastric femoral, branchial plexus etc. Popularized and imparted training on various regional anesthesia techniques in pediatrics to Jr residents, Sr. residents, other senior trainee from various hospitals in the country. My training on regional anesthesia from Montreal Children Hospital was of great help. I have delivered invited talks and published papers / articles in this area as listed in publication below. I have been the main person and coordinator to provide anaesthesia services during the various national and International workshops organised by the Department of Pediatric Surgery
