In a little town not far away,

in a time just after tomorrow.

lived a little girl, called Matilda-Jane

and her friends the Mooky-Took

In a little town not far away,in a time just after tomorrow

Lived a little girl with curly brown hair,brown eyes and little button toes

Mathilda Jane was jolly like jam,she dug in her garden under the sun

She dug in the soil with the worms and beetles,and daisys and grasses and a big tree

Beside the big tree was a little house,it had 15 windows and a door

Beside the house was a little stream,which wriggled and wiggled and ran

The river ran on where the rainbowfall fell,near a bridge made of snow and flowers

And under the bridge was a little bedAnd under the bed was a deep, dark shadow

And there in the dark were two shiny eyes,and they belonged to a little Mooky-Took

The little Mooky-Took came out of the gloom,He was pink with blue spots and three feet

Mummy Mooky-Took was green with red stripes,and daddy Mooky-Took was purple

One day a silly old monster appeared.It went “woooh WOOH Woooh Wooh”.The silly old monster was in the wrong place,it was grumpy and smelly and cross

The Mooky-Tooks didn’t know what to do.Little Mooky-Took cried “What’s That?”

The silly old monster threw food on the floor,it drew on the walls and ate all their cakes

The Mooky-Tooks ran all around,the Mooky-Tooks were terrified.“Goodness” said Mummy-Took.“Crikey” said Daddy-Took.

When suddenly a giant foot came downand it squashed the monster flat

It squashed it good and flat and thin,it squashed it in the grass and flowers

The Mooky-Tooks looked up and up and upand Matilda Jane looked down

Litte Mooky-Took smiled at Matilda Jane.Matilda Jane said “Hellooo”

Matilda Jane looked all around.“Oh dear” she said, “We shall have to tidy up...and then we’ll bake some MORE cake”

Soon enough it was all nice againwith lots of shadows and grass.“you can live here” said Matilda Jane,“and we can sing and dance”

and so they did...

and they all lived happily ever after.
