Mixing Bowl Covers TutorialHere is a quick and easy tutorial on sewing your own mixing bowl covers. This would be great for your next picnic in the park or as hostess and house warming gifts. Be sure to leave any helpful hints in the comment section. I am always looking for an easier way to do something.
Supplies:1 Fat Quarter (should be enough for a large bowl)Bias Tape - 1/2"(enough to go around your fabric circle)
Thin Elastic - 1/4" (small bowl you could use 1/8" elastic)(enough to go around bowl minus 2")
Safety Pin
Sewing MachineScissors

Directions:1.)Place your fat quarter right sides down on your work surface.Hint:If you are using a directional print or something with a certain design, make sure to center your bowl over the design.

2.)Using a marking pen make a circle that is 2" bigger than your bowl.Hint:I used a ruler and just eye balled it around my bowl.

3.) Using scissors cut out your circle from fat quarter.

4.) Sew your bias tape around the entire edge of the fabric circle. Leave an opening in your bias tape large enough for a safety pin to fit through. You will use the safety pin to thread your elastic around your fabric circle.
5.) Measure the top of your bowl and subtract two inches - this is how much elastic you will need. Stick a safety pin through the end of the elastic.6.) Thread your elastic through the bias tape opening and around the circle. Stitch the ends of elastic together and close the opening in your bias tape by top-stitching with your sewing machine.

7.) Place your covers on top of your bowls and you are ready for your summer potluck!
