Marco Valente resigned and left the MiX Telematics Consumer business of his own volition and in good

standing at the end of September 2013.

Marco’s  final  position  was  that  of  Sales  Director  and  his  final OTE (On Target Earnings) was in the range of

R3m per annum.

Marco joined the MiX Telematics Africa business in May 2011 as the Divisional Director of Beam-e, a new

product range and brand (www.beam-e.com) that we had developed to compete in the high volume

consumer vehicle tracking and recovery space.

The initial task was to set up a full standalone business unit leveraging off existing infrastructure and in

addition to that, a business plan was to be finalized, a large scale field trial needed to be closed off, the

brand was to be designed and launched in July of that year. This was done with great success and

professionalism and he landed our first major B2B account in September that year, namely Hertz car rental.

(Hertz remain a customer to this day and have doubled the usage of the Beam-e product due to exceptional

performance)

In January 2012 the Board of MiX Telematics Limited decided to merge and restructure the MiX Telematics

Africa business and this was split into a focused Consumer and Fleet Management Business. At this stage

the Beam-e business unit lead by Marco was absorbed into the newly formed MiX Telematics Consumer

umbrella and Marco took on the role of Sales Director. This business housed two brands namely Matrix

(www.matrix.co.za) and Beam-e.

Marco’s  mandate  was  as  follows  –

1. To introduce a sustainable sales structure and methodology. (As I write this we have continued

where Marco left off with a methodology he called RAD, which involved an extreme focus on

Acquisition of new business and Retention and Development of existing customers)

2. To exponentially drive the sales number whilst balancing the brands accordingly. The balancing of

the brand and product MiX is of critical importance to our business and this was done effectively.

Our sales have increased exponentially and monthly subscriber growth has increased accordingly in

an extremely tough consumer environment.

3. To drive a culture of sales throughout the organization.

These tasks have been well executed.

Marco is a self-motivated and target driven individual who leaves no stone unturned to achieve the

company’s  objective  or  plan.  He  has  a  unique  ability  to  get  meetings  at  the  most senior level and his tempo

and drive is relentless. The incredible success achieved in the Consumer business in the 18 months since

January 2012 is proof of this.

Marco was only at MiX Telematics for a relatively short period, but his impact was immense. His planned

move to Australia was always in the open and well communicated. His chosen destination of Melbourne,

Australia is a city where MiX does not have any business presence and unfortunately precluded any

opportunities for our group to retain Marco.

We would not hesitate to recommend Marco to any organization looking for a great sales leader.
