BiosNothing represents the Art and Soul of Montana more than the state’s contemporary artists. We are proud to present the 39th Art Auction exhibition and fundraising event to benefit the Missoula Art Museum – a long tradition made possible by the generosity of literally thousands of artists, volunteers and patrons. On behalf of the MAM Board of Directors I wish to again thank you all for making this event possible and positive for collectors, artists and the museum.

We believe that Missoula’s historic downtown is the Art and Soul of our community, and are therefore delighted to be producing our premiere fundraising event at the Holiday Inn, a mere three blocks down Pattee Street from MAM. The custom menu and every conceivable detail of the event were carefully planned by the MAM Auction Committee chaired by MAM Board member Mae Nan Ellingson. We are grateful for this committee’s work.

US Bank, the Presenting Sponsor of MAM’s auction for the third year running, is a thoughtful philanthropic force in our community, state and region. MAM is proud to count US Bank as one of our most generous business sponsors and we thank President Faye Hanson Warren for her loyal support. We are also grateful for the support of our Producing Sponsors: Rockin Rudy’s, Rocky Mountain Moving & Storage, Montana Radio Company, and Thomas Printing. Thanks also to the auction catalog advertisers and business partnerships represented on the pages of the catalog. These longstanding relationships prove that art and business really are good for each other.

Let the bidding begin!

Live Auction BiddingWhen bidding, please hold up your bid number toward the auctioneer. A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item. If you are the winning bidder, listen carefully as the auctioneer restates your bidder number and winning bid amount. The sale amount is documented and the sale is final.

Missoula Art Museum reserves the right to withdraw any item at any time without notice before the actual sale. MAM shall act as final authority in determining the winning bid.

Absentee (Proxy) BiddingBidders not attending the auction may submit proxy bids on all live and silent auction items at MAM, by phone or email. Bids will be made on your behalf and not exceed your stated maximum bid amount. Proxy bidding is anonymous. The deadline for submitting a proxy bid is February 4, 12 PM.

PaymentAll items must be paid for by the end of the evening. MAM accepts cash, checks, travelers’ checks, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa. A 90-day same-as-cash payment plan is available to MAM members. Sign up for a membership before the live event, or add a membership to your evening’s total purchase.

Art Pick-UpWhen you have paid for your winning items, you will be issued a receipt. Please present this receipt at the Pick-Up Table to claim your winning items. If you are unable to take your new artwork home safely that evening, you may arrange for pick-up at MAM at a later date. All artworks must be claimed by May 31, 2011.

Terms of SaleAll sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds. MAM does not make any expressed or implied warranties or guarantees on auction items regarding quality or value of items or services. MAM has attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly, but all items are offered and sold “as is” and “with all faults.”

MAM neither warrants nor represents, and in no event shall be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. No statement made in this catalog or made orally at the auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty for tax purposes or market value. Items have not been appraised unless otherwise noted.

By the buyer’s purchase, the buyer waives any claim for liability against Missoula Art Museum, its elected and appointed officials, members and employees, sponsors, volunteers connected with the auction, and/or the donor of the item. Neither Missoula Art Museum nor the donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damage that may result from the use of the property or services.

AcknowledgementsThank you to the many businesses who have donated funds, services and products to make the auction exhibition, live events, and special programs memorable. Please see the ads throughout this catalog and support the businesses that support MAM!

Thank you to all of the auction bidders and attendees for directly supporting MAM’s programs. Thank you to the dozens of volunteers who help operate the museum and have contributed additional time, energy and creativity to help make this important annual fundraiser a success.
