Mississippi sends RHP Wes Parsons (2-3) to the mound in game one against RHP Freddy Peralta (1-3) for Biloxi. In game two, LHP Kolby Allard (6-10) takes the mound for the MBraves and TBA for the Shuckers. The Braves need to win one of the two games to finish the season ahead of the Shuckers all-time (33-32). The Braves are 1-7 in double headers in 2017. Biloxi won both games of a DH at MGM Park on June 23rd. LAST GAME: The Mississippi Braves took an early lead on the Biloxi Shuckers in game three at Trustmark Park, but were unable to hold on and dropped a 6-4 decision despite a late rally. ATLANTA BRAVES ORGANIZATIONAL PITCHER/PLAYER FOR JULY: LHP Philip Pfeifer, 25, posted a 1.38 ERA in eight relief appearances during the month of July at Double-A Mississippi. He’d struck out 15 in 13 innings of work. The southpaw was promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett earlier this week. He was 1-3 with three saves and a 3.45 ERA in 30 relief appearances for the M-Braves this season. He’d struck out 68 batters while walking 33 in 44.1 innings pitched. Pfeifer did not allow a run in eight outings during the month of June. IF Dylan Moore, 24, posted a .304 batting aver- age in 26 games during the month of July. He had five doubles, seven RBI and five stolen bases. In 96 games with the Double-A Braves this season, Moore has a .191 average with 11 doubles, three home runs and 31 RBI. MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU PITCHER OF THE WEEK: LHP Tyler Pike, 23, made two starts during the week and recorded a 1.50 ERA. In 12.0 innings of work, he surrendered eight hits and limited opponents to four runs, two earned. Pike struck out 10 batters in those starts. In 10 starts since joining the M-Braves on June 11, Pike is 0-5 with a 3.71 ERA. MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU PLAYER OF THE WEEK: INF Joey Meneses, 25, posted a .370 batting average with two doubles, one homer and two RBI in eight games during the week. In 83 games with the Double-A Braves this season, he is hitting .281 with nine doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBI. Meneses was selected as a 2017 Southern League Mid-Season All-Star. The Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves begins the season Thursday, April 5 with a five-game homestand against the Tennessee Smokies. The 2018 season features 70 games at Trustmark Park and 70 games on the road during the 140-game regular sea- son. Mississippi fans have seen more than 120 former M-Braves make their Major League debuts and 21 of those were called up directly from Double-A Mississippi. The M-Braves have made it to the playoffs four mes and won the 2008 Southern League Championship. THIS DATE IN BRAVES HISTORY: 2002... Closer John Smoltz records his 40th save in the 114th game of the Braves’ schedule, making it the earliest point in a season a relief pitcher has reached that mark. Lee Smith of the Cardinals accomplished the feat in his 117th game in 1993, and White Sox closer Bobby Thigpen turned the trick in 118 games en route to seng the major league record with 57 saves in 1990.
