I met some NTM missionaries who had also evacuated from Liberia and as a young believer I was looking for a church and an opportunity to grow in my walk with the Lord. I began to be discipled through a Bible study with Jim Finnamore and through everyday life with many others. In 1993 my wife and I finished four years of Bible school and started to work for the mission in Ivory Coast. In 2002 a civil war broke out and in 2006 the field was closed and I was asked to go to Guinea which we did. In 2009 West Africa’s leader- ship asked me to go to Senegal to help with the culture and language program and start a training program for West Africa as full time members. We felt we needed training to fulfill the task ahead of us and three weeks later were at the training center in Roach, MO. The training reshaped my understanding of the needs among the unreached and prepared me for the next mile. Africa was the only continent where Ethnos360 did not have a training center. We are implementing a training program for Africa with our colleagues of South and East Africa a using current curricula but all agree it needs to be contextualized for African regions. We had our first training in 2013 with 12 students. The idea is to provide comparable training so the African missionaries are equipped to serve on teams comprised of multiple nationalities. The benefit of replicating the training in West Africa instead of sending the candidate to training centers in the west is that we are training them in the context in which they may have their ministry. It makes it quite easy to relate. The training is contextualized and the focus is to challenge the candidates to see their world as it is. It costs less, and the candidates do not have culture shock by moving to another culture even though they may have to experience culture shock during their ministry. Your partnership with Eth- nos360 had an important part in training men and wom- en like Norbert and Annie Yao. “Transforming Prayer” Part III

Part I—God uses prayer to change us! Becoming more like Christ— for God’s glory “Prayer that begins with a pursuit of God’s face, an encounter with His character, an experience of His presence—changes us at the deepest level.”

Part II— Prayer has many privileges and possibilities which are available to us through God’s provisions.

“Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is

none upon earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Do we share the psalmists passion for prayer? “We sometimes pay lip service to the delight and power of prayer. We call it indispensable, we know the Scriptures call for it, yet we often fail to pray.” —-J. Oswald Sanders

What is blocking us in our prayer lives? • Spiritual warfare: Ephesians 6:10-18 “stand firm” — “And

pray”

• Fear of intimacy: Psalm 73:28; Hebrews 10:22; James 4:8—”it is good for me to draw near to God.”

• Misguided focus: Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 4:2—”Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

• Counter productive traditions: Luke 11:1-4 “Lord, teach us to pray”

• Boredom: Ephesians 6:18—”Pray in the Spirit”

• Lack of positive models: Luke 11:1-4 “Jesus said to them, when you pray, say: “

Let’s walk through a positive model together!

A. Scripture fed Psalm 73:25-26—above B. Spirit led C. Worship based

“When we learn to pray from the scriptures in the Spirit—empowered personal abandon of worship, we are in a position to think clearly about His truth so it can shape all we think, desire, and request.”
