Foundational: Christian Life

God becomes bigHe is the Creator

We are the createdAnd there's humility

Page 16: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

God opposes the proudBut gives grace to the humble- James 4:6

King Nebuchadnezzar to all peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth:

Page 19: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Peace be multiplied to you! It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders

that the Most High God has done for me

Page 20: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation

Page 23: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

There's a dream

A great and powerful manLoses his mind

Page 24: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

It is a decree of theMost High, which has come

upon my lord the king…

Page 25: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…that you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field…

Page 26: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

You shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and you shall be wet

with the dew of heaven, and seven periods of time shall

pass over you…

Page 27: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…till you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will

Acknowledge

Page 28: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

And as it was commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree, your kingdom shall be

confirmed for you from the time that you know

that Heaven rules

Page 29: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you: break off your sins by practicing righteousness…

Page 30: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…and your iniquities by showing mercy to the oppressed, that

there may perhaps be a lengthening of your prosperity

Page 31: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

"Your positionHas a purpose, King"

(This is always true)

Page 32: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Acknowledge GodNot your own power

Declare the truth of God's reign by your actions

Page 33: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

Page 34: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths- Prov. 3:5-6

Page 35: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. At the end of twelve months he was walking

on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon…

Page 36: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…and the king answered and said, “Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”

Page 37: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

God opposes the proudBut gives grace to the humble

- James 4:6

Page 38: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

While the words were still in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, “O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken:

Page 39: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

The kingdom has departed from you, and you shall be driven from among men, and your

dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field

Page 40: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

And you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you…

Page 41: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Acknowledge God

…until you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men

and gives it to whom he will”

Page 42: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

It all comes from GodYeah, but…It all comes from GodI know, but…It all comes from God

Page 43: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Immediately the word was fulfilled against

Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from among men and

ate grass like an ox

Page 44: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair grew as long as eagles’ feathers, and his nails were like birds’ claws

Page 45: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes

to heaven, and my reason returned to me…

Page 46: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion…

Page 47: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…and his kingdom endures from generation to generation;

all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing…

Page 48: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…and he does according to his will among the host of heavenand among the inhabitants of the earth…

God gave it or it's not his will

Page 49: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…and none can stay his hand or say to him,

“What have you done?”

Page 50: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

God gave it or it's not his willAcknowledge him

"If only I could…""But I just wish I looked like…""If I had…"

Page 51: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

At the same time my reason returned to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and splendor returned to me

Page 52: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

My counselors and my lords sought me, and I was

established in my kingdom, and still more greatness

was added to me

Page 53: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble (Daniel 4)

The Foundational PrincipleOf the Scriptures…

Beyond anything else

Page 62: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Acknowledge God 50 times in Ezekiel alone:

Then you will know that I am the Lord

Page 63: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

If I don't start with the GodWho is who he is

Nothing else works outIt becomes magical superstition

Or moralistic religion

Page 64: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with

you, declares the Lord God, and you became mine

Page 65: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Then I bathed you with water and washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil. I clothed you also with embroidered cloth and shod you with fine leather

Page 66: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk. And I

adorned you with ornaments and put bracelets on your wrists

and a chain on your neck

Page 67: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

And I put a ring on your nose and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head

Page 68: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your

clothing was of fine linen and silk and embroidered cloth

Page 69: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

You ate fine flour and honey and oil. You grew exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty

Page 70: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect

through the splendor that I had bestowed on you,

declares the Lord God

Page 71: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

I gave you everything of valueThat you have

And Covenanted to alwaysTake care of you

You wanted for nothing

Page 72: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths

Page 73: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

But you trusted in your beauty and played the whore because of your renown and lavished your whorings on any passerby; your beauty became his

Page 74: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

I'm beautiful because of God

I seek to use all that I haveTo bring honor and glory to himHe is my value and my identity

Page 75: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

I'm beautiful and it's my IdentityMy Source, my Value

So I become filled with prideAnd do what I want

Page 76: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

You took some of your garments and made for yourself colorful shrines, and on them played the whore. The like has never been, nor ever shall be

Page 77: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

You also took your beautiful jewels of my gold and of my

silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself

images of men, and with them played the whore

Page 78: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

…And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured…

Page 79: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

How sick is your heart, declares the Lord God, because you did

all these things, the deeds of a brazen prostitute

Page 80: Missionaries and Margin Benevolence Rescue Mission/Acts 2

LamentingJudgment coming: no pleasure

…you shall know that I am the Lord- Ezekiel 16 (various)
