USING THE HOME – COMMUNICATION BOOK

The purpose of this book is to facilitate communication between the home and the

college. Communication may be initiated by either parent or teacher.

Parents may use this book to:

• Request an interview

• Seek feedback on student’s progress/behaviour

• Provide an explanation for student’s absence

• Request permission for student to leave college grounds or leave college early

• Communicate any other personal need relating to student’s welfare/belongings

• Respond to teacher’s communication

Teachers may use this book to:

• Request an interview

• Provide feedback on student’s progress/behaviour

• Communicate any other personal need relating to student’s welfare/belongings

• Respond to parent’s communication

All entries in this book need to be dated and signed. Parents need to check this book every afternoon to see if the teacher has made an entry. Students must show the teacher this book in the morning if an entry has been made by the parent.

GENERAL COLLEGE INFORMATION

Attendance Regular attendance is important. If your child is absent from the college more than 3 days please advise the teacher regarding his absence. If a student is away from college for any amount of time, the parents must ring the front office on the day of absence and provide a written explanation when the student returns.

Leaving College Grounds Students are not permitted to leave the college grounds during the day unless requested by parents in writing. Parents need to come to the office to collect their children.

Marking of Property All clothing, stationery, books and other items are to be clearly marked with the child’s full name and year level. Please make the markings as permanent as possible and renew when faded.

Medication Some forms of medication can be administered at college under the supervision of personnel selected by the Principal. Before medication can be administered, it is important that the college: • Receives a letter from the parent requesting administration of the medication.

• Sights the written instruction provided by the medical practitioner/pharmacist.

• Received medication that is clearly named (student’s name)

Unless under prescription, ANALGESICS will not be administered. Asthma inhalers may be held by students at all times. A letter of advice from the parent is required. Assembly

• Assembly will be held at 8:30am each morning. All students are required to be on

time. Parents are always welcome to attend.

• A Special Assembly will be held on the last Friday of each month to recognise the

efforts and achievements of the students. Parents, relatives and friends are

encouraged to attend.

Report Cards • Report Cards are issued at the end of each school semester to provide parents with a

written record of their child’s progress. Parent interviews are held at the end of

semester one and three.

Visitors to the college

All parents are requested to report to the office first. Authorised visitors will be issued with a visitor’s badge. Please make an appointment to see staff members via the college secretary. Newsletters

College newsletters will be published each month.. Individual class teachers may send newsletters on a monthly basis to communicate themes and other relevant information. Excursion

Excursions are planned during the course of the year. All students are encouraged to participate. A notice will be sent home with details of venue and cost. Every student must submit the signed permission slip to participate. (Students will not participate without a signed permission slip.)

Sun Safety Policy

It is encouraged that students use sunscreen to prevent skin damage. Every student attending sporting activities on sports ground must wear a college hat.

Hats

All students must wear their own college hat during outdoor activities.

THE COLLEGE ENFORCES THE “NO HAT NO PLAY POLICY”.

Uniforms

Formal college uniform Every student is expected to wear their uniforms, including full school black leather shoes. (NO SNEAKERS ALLOWED) Sports Uniform

The sports uniform should only be worn on sports days. (Sneakers should be black.)

Money Collection

Class money collection for any purpose should be sent to the class teacher in a sealed envelope clearly marked with:

• Student’s name • Class • Purpose The teacher will send all monies to the office. Lunch Orders

Kindly ensure that you place your child’s lunch order using the brown lunch bags. These bags are available from the College tuckshop/Woolworths/Coles.

Australian International Islamic College Primary School Uniforms (Prep to Yr6)

Kindly ensure that your child is in full school uniform each day.

School uniforms must be purchased from the School Uniform Shop (Office) on Campus.

Ensure you have more than one set of uniform, (a suggestion is a minimum of 3 sets

– one to wear, one for the wash and one clean). Children must be clean, neat and tidy. Clothes which are torn, missing buttons or have holes must be repaired.

Black leather school shoes are compulsory for boys and girls with the formal uniform.

No other form of footwear is permissible even if it is black that is sneaker/sports shoes MUST NOT be worn with the formal uniform).

Undergarments such as a vest or T-shirt must be either navy blue or white. No other

colour or bright colours are allowed.

The sports uniform should only be worn on the sports days. Black sports shoes must be worn with the sports uniform (NO FANCY, COLOURFUL OR DECORATIVE SNEAKERS allowed).

A school hat is compulsory. Baseball caps are not acceptable.

The sports uniform is to be worn only on sports day and at no other time. Sports shoes are not to be worn with the formal uniform even if they are black.

This is our uniform policy which must be followed by all students.
