Key Student/Camper Learning Outcomes of Summer Program

Programming and Special Guests Are Subject To Change

Day 1

Participants dive right in as they get accustomed to the drones they will be using throughout the course. We accomplish this learning through the official Drobots Flight Academy (DFA) where each person learns the basics of drone safety and RC (remote control) flight technology. During DFA, participants familiarize themselves with the rules of safety and flight as well as the basic mechanics of quadcopters. From there they take the controls and learn how to properly take off, fly and land. Drobot teams rotate through stations and participate in live and simulated exercises to improve or enhance their skills. Upon graduation from DFA, day one ends with the first competition amongst the teams. Quizzes on safety are included as part of the first day’s activities – setting the stage for an exhilarating day two.

Day 1 Learning Outcomes:ü  Introduction for the week’s activities and goals

ü  UAV and STEM future job application. Explanation of “The Why” to all participants. Investment of futureü  Introduction to the various drones we will utilize during the week ü  Complete safety overview and current events (awareness)ü  Teams are formed to collaborate throughout the rest of weekü  Explanation of the Drobots STEM Vision Board Competition (due end of week)

ü  Basic training and flying exercises at the Drobots Flight Academy

Day 2As the teams assemble and take on their first challenge of the day, the “desire to learn more” sets in quickly. Day two is about action and education. Participants will learn about the history of drone technology and the benefits of today’s applicability for numerous industries. Learn how drones are changing every corner of the planet and how certain initiatives are literally changing lives. From agriculture to medicine and from sports to filmmaking, we will challenge the Drobot teams to devise their own creative applications for the end-of-program presentation. Teams will be judged on creativity, design, practicality, social impact, and more. In essence day two represents the power of drone technology addressing the “what, why and how” of its positive social impact. During the afternoon of day two, teams are confronted with multiple drone flight team activities and challenges, providing a sneak preview to the last day and our most popular event: The Drobot Aerial Olympics. Lastly- we will interact with and learn from our first industry leader - one who is currently utilizing drone technology within their business or organization. Participants will engage in a memorable demonstration and FAQ session with our special guest.

Day 2 Learning Outcomes:ü  History and evolution of UAVs (drone). Real world and current examplesü  Current industrial application of UAV technology throughout the world

ü  Teams storyboard short film for production utilizing UAV cameraü  Teams compete in drone flight activities and events to sharpen their skillsü  Special Guest #1 of the week –industry expert to speak and take Q&A from participants

Day 3

Starting from this day onwards, participants will begin to understand the mechanics of all drone functions: what makes it fly, tilt, rise, and fall. After the teams participate in takeoff, landing and accuracy training and competitions, the focus turns to speed and agility. Today is the day teams are introduced to the positive effects drones have had in certain industries such as agriculture, architecture, sports, search & rescue, and more. Participants also get a peak into the world of drones and cinematography – as every one learns how to stream video from the drone’s camera and compete in additional challenges using only the camera to navigate.

Day 3 Learning Outcomes:ü  Basic flight language and understand of the mechanics behind drone flightü  Takeoff, landing and accuracy skills and drillsü  How UAVs are positively affecting the world. Discussion of the potential

ü  STEM Vision Board Competition “show and tell” session. Vetting with our instructorsü  Introduction to drone camera and video capture. Tidbits on how to utilizeü  Draft short film storyboard is due. Time to “show and tell” with all participants

Day 4

On this day, the real fun begins. Participants will learn how to navigate through obstacles and control the drone through the official designed Drobots Obstacle Course, testing knowledge of tilts forward, backward, left, and right. Teams will also focus upon rotation (clockwise and counter-clockwise) and GPS strategy. The rest of the schedule includes movie making with drones. Teams put story and pen to drone and film a short one-minute movie. Movies will be shared with all participants and their families, including the “Drobot Academy Awards” ceremony. Lastly- we will interact with and learn from another industry leader – one who is currently utilizing drone technology within their business or organization. Participants will engage in a memorable demonstration and FAQ session with our special guest.

Day 4 Learning Outcomes:ü  Flying through obstacle courses and agility stationsü  Team contests involving camera and GPS location detection during flightü  Filming day for the UAV short films

ü  Final STEM Vision Board Competition review. Vetting with our instructors. Due tomorrowü  Special Guest #2 of the week –industry expert to speak and take Q&A from participants

Day 5

On this final day, it’s all about the Drobots Aerial Olympics! Individual and team competitions fill every minute of our schedule. Participants enter the Drobot Arena competing in an intense yet purely enjoyable series of drone events and challenges. While the program and fun must end, participants go home plenty of information to expand their knowledge and act upon their curiosity. Summer camp Drobots Pilots will be able to participate, to learn, to practice and to compete through the use of the Drobots Company Online Learning Academy throughout the rest of the summer and academic year.

Day 5 Learning Outcomes:ü  Drobots Aerial Olympic competition and awards ceremonyü  STEM Vision Board Competition presentation and awards ceremonyü  Official Drobots Safety and Flight Pilot Patch and Certificate presentation.
