Mission Summary

It’s time for a full scale attack! Dr. Zeno Antithikara needs to infiltrate the Cima Leon: Silo settlement, but General Di Ravello isn’t giving this up easily: the base is now heavily fortified, including massive concrete walls that surround the base. While Rico can easily manage this, he needs the Rebels to attack, and they have no way of getting up and over those walls (the base does not have the large garage doors that the other bases have). No problem; Rico is a great improvisor. As tanks and vehicles attack from all sides, Rico uses his grapple hook to start building a makeshift ramp ­­ a ramp that leads straight into Cima Leon: Silo! Once the ramp is built, Rebels charge over the piles of metal and pour into the base! It doesn’t stand a chance now, thanks to Rico’s quick thinking.

Leading a charge is great, but leading a charge over a pile of smoldering destruction that you arranged yourself is even better!

Dr. Zeno Antithikara ­ Communicates via comm link to Rico, and arrives via helicopter to Cima Leon: Silo at the end of the mission. Dimah Ali Umar al­Masri ­ Not physically present, but communicates via comm link. Gives hints to the player.

Gameplay Notes

Figure 1 In order to avoid the player having to be precise, the ramp that is built uses a prebuilt structure, fashioned to look like a series of tanks and vehicles have been smashed together in a ramp shape. Each time the player successfully drags a vehicle into the “ramp zone” (highlighted via overlay in the level), some dust particle effects play, masking a transition to stage one of the prebuilt ramp object. After five successful placements, the fully functioning ramp is revealed and the rebel characters (and the player) can traverse it.

If Rico has liberated this settlement before the mission begins, narrative will support that Di Ravello has retaken it due to its importance.

Using the grapple hook ability is second nature to the player at this point; finding cool ways to use it differently adds variety and fun!

A. Mission Start ­ Rico learns that the Rebels cannot traverse the concrete walls,

and there are no large doors like in other bases. B. Dimah asks Rico via the comm link if he has other ideas. He does. A brief cut

scene may be shown, with a Di Ravello jeep crashing into the wall. C. With a colored overlay showing the correct spot, Rico says he is going to do “a

little building.” Text prompt to use the grapple hook to pull wreckage into the wall to form a ramp (see Figures 1, 2, 4, and 5).

D. Rico is finished with the ramp, but they are exposed to enemy fire from gun emplacements on top of the walls! Protect the Rebels as they continue to traverse the ramp and work their way down to the base (see Figure 5).

E. The Rebels have made it! But now Di Ravello has sent helicopters. Stuck in a “bowl of death,” as Dr. Zeno mentioned on the comms, Rico must use his abilities to save the Rebels once more.

F. The Rebels now hold the Cima Leon: Silo base. Rico has one more task: escort the helicopter holding Dr. Zeno until it can land next to the base. Naturally, Di Ravello’s forces attack the helicopter en route (see Figure 3).

G. The mission ends with a humorous scene of Dr. Zeno stumbling over the wreckage Rico arranged for the rebels to traverse. “Are you sure there isn’t another way in?” asks Dr. Zeno. “Maybe,” says Rico, “but I’d like you to admire my handiwork, Doctor!” Mission complete.

Figure 5 Notes: To support the proposed base geometry, the Cima Leon: Silo area needs to have flat terrain surrounding it on all sides. This is to support the walls and create the need for a constructed ramp to get troops across. This would require some reshaping of the surrounding terrain.
