THE DAMAGE

After the massive earthquake in Nepal on April 25th and May 12th, 2015 there was extensive damage to lives and properties. Countless people were left homeless and starving. Many children became orphan and many adults have sustaining injuries.

WHAT WE DID?

We set up a health camp in the district of Nuwakot, where we focused on physical examination and wound care. During our camp we served 150-200 patients each day

Additionally, we teamed up with Medical college and Teaching Hospital to set up a health camp at Baluwa committee in the district of Kathmandu where saw about 200 patient.

We donated the surgical supplies and left over supplies to Community health post in a village of Kathmandu.

We did patient teaching and educated the villagers on wound care, risk and prevention of infection, hand hygiene and sanitation.

HELP FROM MAGIC OF MOTHERS

We are grateful to Magic of Mothers for their contribution, we utilized the fund to buy the basic dressing supplies out of which we made 80 kits of first aid needs and distributed to 80 families in Nuwakot. Each kit contained : Ace wrap, Kerlix gauze, band aid, disinfectant wipes, cotton balls, masks, gloves, Over the counter painkillers.

CONCLUSION

This was an amazing experience, being able to help people in need has tremendously increased our motivation and confidence towards our goal. We were able to provide medical attention to 80 families in the district of Nuwakot and 200 people in Baluwa, Kathmandu and also local health post in village of Jitpurphedi VDC, Kathmandu. Our mission included: Physical examination Wound care and dressing changes Suture and removal Tetanus vaccines Intravenous fluids Patient teaching and patient counseling
