The CMM is focused on a number of strategic areas of research: Mining, Education, Bio and Resource Management. By using mathematical modeling and innovation in conjunction with high performance computing, the Center solves problems, optimizes processes and uses scientific tools to support decision-making in the main productive sectors and public policy agencies of the country.

By collaborating with research centers from di�erent countries, CMM has a strong network to do frontier science and technology. It is also connected with important companies and public institutions.

CMM leads the National Laboratory for High Performance Computing collaborative project. The main Chilean universities and research centers join in the laboratory. Its Leftraru supercomputer is the most powerful for academic use in South America.
