M.I.S HOST THE ALL BLACKS AGAIN With the help of ASB and ST JOHN IN SCHOOLS
The ASB St John in Schools programme provides learning experiences for school aged children to empower them to act
in an emergency. At the beginning of this year St John in Schools community educators visited our school and taught
our students skills and confidence to take action in response to an emergency situation. They returned once again last
Thursday with some friends, All Blacks Jerome Kaino, Codie Taylor and Luke Romano. Our Winter Olympics squad
were selected to attend a special training with St John only to be surprised by the ALL BLACKS. It was an amazing
opportunity given to our school and with television and newspaper media attending there were definitely more than three
sports stars. Our students showed STAR values and were stars on the day.

MIS HOST THE ALL BLACKS AGAIN
We currently have a group of students who are in Japan
with Mr Cooke . Here are some photos from this weeks
adventures.
PREP DAY We have our PREP market day next Thursday 22nd September, 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Items and services can be purchased using
the Melville Intermediate School money(MISMS). 5 MISMs equals $1 New Zealand. You can purchase MISMs on Market Day
through the MISMs bank set up in the school office which will be open until 5.00pm or you can pre purchase.
We have had several phone calls concerned about the “cost” of parents funding food and other products for PREP. Each class
gets $200.00. It is up to the teacher to make sure that any money that needs to be spent on products fits within this budget
allocation. It is NOT expected that parents fund PREP.

HOCKEY- It has been an amazing term of sports with our hockey team placing third in the Waikato Intermediate
Competition which is a great accomplishment as they were placed 40th at the beginning of the season.
NETBALL- Both netball teams have had a very successful netball season. The MIS Mystics has been the most successful year
7 team that Melville Intermediate has had over the last five years making the premier league in the second pool and placing
third. The MIS Diamonds are back to back CHAMPIONS winning their finals against the TK Devils 33-17.
BASKETBALL– We have three teams playing in the Waikato Basketball Competition this term the MIS Bulls, MIS Lakers
and MIS Sparks, all teams have played some tough games and competed at times with only four or five players due to sickness.
They will be playing their final game next week. Good Luck!
WE ARE VERY PROUD OF ALL OUR SCHOOL TEAMS
