PLAY LONG. PLAY SAFE. PLAY STRONG.
Kids Are Worth It! At Blue Imp, we insist on using superior
materials because we believe kids are worth it.
Playgrounds may look similar at first glance, but
when you take a closer look, you will find big
differences in design, materials and warranty.
Those differences matter to the longevity of your
investment and the safety of your children.
Long-Lasting FunBlue Imp builds products to make the fun last.
Our creative play systems are designed to stand
up to enthusiastic play and weather extremes
while keeping kids active and wanting more.
Leading SafetyAs a safety leader, we ensure that our structures
meet or exceed industry standards and believe that
safety is about more than simply meeting a standard. Our see-through designs
promote easier supervision while our easy-grip steel rail entries and
hammerlock connectors help keep kids safe.
Steel AdvantagesWhen it comes to durable fun, steel rules. That’s why we prefer to design with
steel whenever suitable and possible. Steel is vandal-resistant, weather-proof
and kid-proof. In addition, it is static-free and cochlear-implant friendly. As the
world’s most recycled material, steel is greener, too.
Best WarrantyAs the longest-standing Canadian play equipment manufacturer, we continue to
stand behind our products with confidence, family pride and the best warranty
in the industry.

Made in Canada. Fabricated in Canada. Produced in
Canada. No matter how you say it, it’s a fact we are
proud of. As Canada’s longest standing playground
and park equipment manufacturer, we continue to
fabricate a wide range of products at our facility in
Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Understanding Canada’s NeedsAt Blue Imp, we understand Canada’s climate and
strive to design products that stand up to weather
extremes while offering year-round play value.
Ensuring Quality & SafetyBecause Blue Imp is 100% owned and operated in
Canada, you can rest assured that the products you
buy meet or exceed all CSA standards and were
manufactured under safe and fair working
conditions.
Employing CanadiansBlue Imp provides jobs for Canadians in a wide range of positions, including
research and design, drafting, fabrication, finishing, quality control, sales,
administration, shipping and installation. In addition, Blue Imp’s apprenticeship
and training opportunities help to develop Canada’s workforce.
Reducing Environmental ImpactBecause our products are manufactured right here at home, they are closer
to you, which means less transport and lower emissions, both for your initial
purchase as well as service and parts in the future.
Building a Stronger CanadaAs the engine of the economy, manufacturing fuels other sectors, creating a
multiplier effect that generates wealth and job growth for all. When you
purchase Blue Imp products, you are helping to build a stronger community and
a stronger Canadian economy. As the founder of Blue Imp wisely said,
“What Canada makes, makes Canada!”
CANADA STRONG
Do kids care about the environment? You bet!
And so does Blue Imp. From our eco-friendly steel
products to our PVC-free plastic components, we strive
to choose materials that are positive for the environment
and safe for children.
In fact, when it comes to green thinking, Blue Imp
got a headstart. In the 1930s, long before recycling
was even a concept, Blue Imp founder Simon F. Scott
reclaimed the steel tubing from decommissioned steam
locomotives to manufacture swings.
Leaner and GreenerBlue Imp continues to move forward with lean
manufacturing initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce
waste. From improving energy efficiency to ensuring every
piece of waste metal is collected for recycling, lean
manufacturing helps minimize our impact on the environment.
Eco-Friendly SteelBlue Imp recognizes that steel is an eco-friendly choice for playgrounds. It's one of the
reasons we offer such a wide array of steel playground products.
Steel is the most recycled material on the planet; in fact, two thirds of all new
steel comes from recycled input. Once the time comes to replace your equipment, the
steel can be easily recycled in most communities.
PVC-Free Plastic Components and Solvent-Free CoatingsAlong with steel, Blue Imp chooses materials that reduce environmental impact and
risk to children. Our plastic components are a food-grade polyethylene resin free of PVC,
lead and other heavy metals and can be fully recycled where facilities exist. Our
polyester powder coatings are free of solvents and heavy metals.
Close to HomeBecause Blue Imp products are made in Canada, our products are closer to you,
the customer. The same goes for service and parts. Easier for you and easier on the
environment!
Steel’s long lifespan,
high recycle content and easy recyclability make it more sustainable than other
materials.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am very pleased to provide this letter of reference for BDI Play Designs. The District of
Sparwood undertook a large playground renewal project in the spring of 2015 replacing five of
the community’s playgrounds and the pool slide.
BDI's proposal for the replacement equipment was top of the line presenting the most features
and play value compared the other seven proposals submitted to us through the RFP process.
BDI took great care to ensure they were meeting all the requirements of our RFP and ensuring
diversity amongst the play equipment and maximizing the play value of each playground.
During the installation process BDI crews were respectful of the park lands and neighbors with
no complaints resulting from the demolition and construction process. We were very pleased
with the care taken with the installation and any concerns identified were addressed to the
satisfaction of Sparwood.
BDI also undertook the design and installation of a pool slide. This process was more complex
than first anticipated and resulted in the redesign of the slide portion of the structure. BDI
undertook this redesign at no additional charge to Sparwood and spent a significant amount of
time and resources ensuring the new indoor slide was safe for the public to use and was
installed to our specifications. The public is now enjoying this new feature which is a significant
improvement to the pool. I would like to highlight that the new slide cost less and is a much
more attractive feature than those currently marketed for pools.
BDI’s customer service and dedication to ensuring all project requirements are met was
exemplary and I am please provided this letter of reference. If the opportunity presents itself
Sparwood would be pleased to work with BDI on future playground projects.
Sincerely,
Duane Lawrence Director of Community and Facility Services District of Sparwood

Dear Tanya and Elbert,
It was a pleasure working with BDI Play Designs. You listened to our needs and respondedquickly and appropriately. You were easy to contact, and were always prompt to respond. Youanswered a million questions and genuinely seemed happy to do so. You kept us on track andand on-budget. You were flexible in handling last minute changes, including changes to theborders and the size of the playground a month prior to the build. When the planning teamneeded last minute schematics and posters for special presentations and grant applications,BDI actually had them couriered. We met our deadlines and were successful in receivingdonations and grants as a result.
Although several playground vendors were recommended, we ultimately chose BDI, becausewe felt most comfortable working with Tanya & Elbert; we LOVED the Blue Imp products; andthey were able to provide the most equipment for the same price. We felt confident about ourchoice from the beginning, and now that our playground is built, we can honestly say thatworking with the Blue Imp and BDI teams was the right choice.
We are so happy with the Blue Imp products. They are safe and exciting. The kids are reallygetting a workout, but are having too much fun to even realize it! We also loved the fact that BDIand Blue Imp are Alberta companies - we were buying local, helping Albertans and reducing ourcarbon footprint, all at the same time. During the build, BDI's on-site supervisors, Greg andHope, were excellent. They worked really well with the volunteers, kept everyone on task andensured that our volunteer-built playground was perfectly installed. We even wrapped up ourbuild early thanks to their supervision and our dedicated volunteers!
Our planning team was thoroughly amazed that BDI managed to include everything (seriously!)that the kids put on their playground wish list. This was an amazing feat! We needed a morechallenging playground, which would accommodate our growing school. The kids wanted a funplayground, where they could play 'grounders'. BDI was able to take all of our input to create abeautiful layout.
Parents and school staff are happy with increased visibility, and the new picnic tables andbenches are well-utilized. BDI & Blue Imp were even able to create custom signs in Spanish forour bilingual school. The playground colours are amazing and we keep getting compliments.Parents from around the community are bringing their kids to play after school and onweekends. Our new playground has really brought the community together, and it's evenbecome a “destination playground”, where people from around the city are willing to travel.
¡Muchas Gracias, BDI!

Testimonial
Dorothy Dalgliesh School - Picture Butte, AB
"Building a playground is not something that happens easily or overnight.
Tanya and Elbert at BDI Play Designs Inc. are so knowledgeable and patient
that it makes this process much less stressful. They were always just an email
or phone call away!
Our playground at Dorothy Dalgliesh Elementary School in Picture Butte
took approximately 16 months from our first meeting with Tanya to the
building completion. During that time, I can’t count the number of emails
that went back and forth -not to mention phone calls and face to face
meetings. I had no clue where to start or what building a playground would
entail, but am so glad I called BDI! They came to our site and gave us
invaluable pointers and information about what needed to be done step by
step. They were so patient and supportive with all the changes we asked for
(and there were many) as well as answering the never ending questions we
seemed to have.
Our build supervisor Greg, was also very relaxed and knowledgeable with all
our volunteers which made the build run very smoothly. BDI Play Designs
Inc. genuinely cared about our project and were a pleasure to work with. I
would highly recommend them to anyone looking to build or replace a
playground.
Thank you so much Elbert and Tanya (and staff)!”

On behalf of the board members and ownership group of Millgreen Village, we thank
BDI Play Designs for their tremendous efforts in the replacement of our aged
playground.
After experiencing challenges within the playground marketplace, and with only 120
days left before the first anticipated snow of the year, Elbert and his team were able to
take our vision from idea, to reality.
Elbert immediately listened to our wants and needs, recommended a course of action,
and without stretching beyond our fiscal budget was able to create a plan that worked
for our community.
His team cared for us every step of the way by looking after each aspect of the project
from the removal and disposal of the old materials, to completing and rehabilitating the
surrounding landscape. They kept us informed and flexed the plan when we wanted a
slight change in the course.
This project was a major undertaking for our community and it would not have been
completed on time and on budget without the efforts and support of BDI Play Designs
Inc.
