praised the organic farmingof Sikkim at Conference Hallof Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

“Sikkim’s accomplish-ment in Organic Mission iscommendable and the simi-

lar mission can be followedby the rest of the statesconsidering the market val-ue and demand of the or-ganic product” Prime Min-ister Modi stated while re-

sponding to a question byone of the Sikkimese Jour-nalist.

Appreciating the workby Sikkim Government onorganic farming, Prime Min-

ister added “organic prod-uct is beneficial for healthand also good for the fertil-ity of framing land”.

Modi added that we aretrying to streamline the tra-ditional knowledge by givingskill development, to lesseducated youths. He saidthat skill development is forilliterate and less educatedpeople. He was respondingto a question on lack of train-ing on Skill Development forthe illiterate youths.

He has also assured tovisit Sikkim and discussabout the development poli-cies for the north easternstates.

A group of ten Journal-ists from Sikkim is in Delhito attend three day longtraining on ParliamentaryStudies. Started in 2014, forthe reporters from acrossthe country, Sikkim is thefirst North East State to at-tend the training.

and trafficked children alongwith those effected with oth-er various problems. A direc-tory of Institutions workingin this field, their capabilitiesand needs along with theneed of various other worksbe taken up in this field arethe main objective behindthe initiative. The works willstart from small interventionslike providing slippers tostreet children or larger initi-atives like sponsoring chil-dren in institutional homes.Various voluntary organiza-tions along with private com-panies will be approached toconsider taking up suchworks as part of their corpo-

Qiu Qinghua (36) andChai Jun (30) of Fujian inChina and Surendra Tewari aDelhi resident were arrestedwith sandalwoods on Tues-day from Matigara block un-der Siliguri sub-division withsandalwood weighing about300 kgs. Tewari is the driverof Xylo car in which the Chi-nese.

The trio was producedbefore the Court, which sentthem to 14-day-long policeremand as demanded by po-lice investigating the case.

during the interrogation, Po-lice have failed to unearthanything major in a case,though a local man knowingChinese language was ropedin to interpret their statement.

Shyam Singh the Depu-ty Commissioner of policesaid, “We need more time fortheir interrogation. Policebelieve that they are a part ofbig international racket deal-ing with red sandalwoods.

Terming the organizingcommittee's decision as'unjust' Ongden Bhutia,Liung United's Managerand team captain TempoLendup Bhutia, registeredtheir protest, in a press con-ference held here today.

According to Bhutia, thetournament which com-menced on August 1, wasplayed in a league formatwith four teams each in twopools. Having lost theiropening match to SikkimPolice, Luing United wenton to beat Majhitar andKhamdung convincingly instraight sets. Bhutia added,“Three teams in our pool,Majhitar, Khamdung andour team Liung United had6 points each from threematches. The organizingcommittee members had

said that a tie breaker matchwould be played to deter-mine the second semi final-ist from the pool. But afterour last pool match withKhamdong, the organizingcommittee suddenly an-nounced that our team hadbeen ousted without beingmade to play the tie breakermatch.’’

The team's Captain-Manager duo questionedon what basis was the deci-sion taken as the secondsemi finalist team too hadthe same points and LiungUnited had also managed tobeat them in straight setsduring the pool match.

“When we asked for thereason of our ouster, thecommittee members saidthat the decision was takensince we had lost our firstmatch, but the other teamhad also lost their openingmatch. On top of that, wehad managed to beat theteam convincingly instraight sets in our poolmatch. Kalimpong August 12: Af-ter stealing internationaleyes, the state governmentsponsored Fair Price Medi-cine Shop (FPMS) found itsway to Kalimpong sub-divi-sional hospital on Wednes-day through the GorkhalandTerritorial Administration(GTA). Asha Gurung, theGTA executive member in-charge of the Health Depart-ment inaugurated the shopthat will remain open 24 X 7for the patient parties.

The hospital, a premierhealth care unit in the sub-division, also added bed to

the existing ones at the ma-ternity and paediatric wards.Gurung also inauguratedpay cabin for the hospitals,thus giving the much needupgradation for the hospital.

“This is an old hospitaland the number of beds hadnot increased. Since now thepopulation have increased itwas mandatory that thenumber be increased. The

pay cabins will comfort peo-ple to the fullest,” said Gu-rung while addressing afterinauguration.

The fair price shop is 7yards away from the mainbuilding of the hospital. “Themedicines will be available forpatient parties at discountand genuine as well,” saidGurung. Sources said dis-counts upto 62 percent areavailable in the shop.

Gurung said the GTA isputting its hard effort to up-grade the Mirik PrimaryHealth Centre underKurseong subdivision. TheFPMS will also be opened atMirik she added.

“I started the project sinceJanuary 2015. Till I gave thiscar a finishing touch, it costme Rs 40, 000 to make it,” said

the enthusiastic Rai. Thetough part in the making how-ever was the funding. “Iearned this Rs 40, 000through grass cutting infields and repairing mechan-ical equipment’s in my local-ity,” added Rai, who is a res-ident of 32nd mile along NH10. It has been eight monthssince Rai has bought any-thing for himself.

With limited resources,Rai had a hard time to get anew engine. But when onevows for something there isno looking back. Rai man-aged to get a dead engine togive his dream car a shape.Within no time, the boy nowquite famous for his cre-

His neighbours at his na-tive village said Rai had nohelper to complete theproject. . He invented this caron his own from assembling,wielding to finishing. Rai cre-ativity can be applauded be-cause despite being a drop-out he has managed to dowhat others have not doneso far said one of his neigh-bours. “All those moneywhich he earned invested onthis project after his familiesimportant requirements,”added the neighbour.
