MINK to provide backstage makeup at Africa

Fashion Week London 2011

MINK Artist Management and Makeup School will be

providing all the backstage makeup at this year’s Africa

Fashion Week London event on the 5th and 6th August at

Gibson Hall 13 Bishopsgate London EC2N 3BA.

MINK is the leading makeup authority for women of col-

our in the UK. The company is made up of a private make-

up school for aspiring make-up artists, a specialist makeup

artist management agency and an event management arm

that produces educational events for the makeup commu-

nity and make-up enthusiasts.

Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) is an annual event

involving two days of free fashion festivities, an extrava-

gant fusion of African culture, fashion, style and mu-

sic. Celebrating London's unique and diverse culture heri-

tage, topped with flamboyant mixing of Western and Afri-

can culture through fashion.

AFWL is an event for all, with hourly cat walks shows in-

volving designers using African prints, textiles and fabrics

from most African countries. Its vision is for it to become

the biggest multicultural fashion showcasing event in Lon-

don. Your one stop shop for all kinds of African labels. The

event is expected to attract VIP guests from different Afri-

can countries, exhibitors from UK and Africa,

top international African fashion designers, emerging Afri-

can designers and non African designers who use a lot of

African prints/patterns in their work. It will also be a show-

case of young African models.

Both companies market the beauty of people of colour and

actively pursue the promotion of diversity in popular me-

dia. This shared ambition provided an opportunity for

MINK and AFWL to work together in an intersection of

common goals.

MINK will manage all of the makeup requirements for the

show, including the provision of a makeup team, sourcing

of makeup products and the handling of all makeup enquir-

ies from the press and the general public.
