(GROUP 1) 

Modern International Gateway Port applying high science-technology in management and operation;

In Cat Hai:

2020-2025: call general ships of up to 50,000DWT(100,000 DWT not full load), container ships of up to 6,000TEU (8,000 TEU not full load), capacity of 35 - 41 miltons/year.

2025 – 2030: call general ships of 100,000 DWT, containerships of more than 8,000 TEU, capacity of 118 - 136 miltons/year.

In Chanh River: Left bank: develop liquid cargo berth forships of 40,000 DWT and capacity of 5 mil tons/year(Y2020) and 10 mil tons/year (Y2030). Right bank: developgeneral cargo berth for ships of 50,000 DWT, capacity of9.5 mil tons/year (Y2020) and 20 mil tons/year (Y2030).

Length of berths: 750m Throughput capacity: 1,100,000 Teu/năm Area of roads, yards: 450,000m2 Ships: 100,000DWT (8000-9000TEU) Viet Nam’s + Japan’s investors 8/2017: to be operated

Local organizations and individuals, and foreign organizationsand individuals shall be entitled to invest in construction ofseaports and port access channels in accordance with theexisting laws and regulations.

SOLUTION –POLICY FOR INVESTMENT & DEVELOPMENT

‐ Ship size: >=160.000 DWT‐ Cargo+ 2015: 57,3. ‐ 78,0 mil T/y (2,76‐3,88 mil Teu/y)+ 2020: 85,7 ‐ 131,1mil T/y (5,0 ‐ 8,2mil Teu/y)

MV CSCL Star (160.000DWT) entered CMIT Port

- At present, Viet Nam is researching on the model portmanagement entity which fits with the master plan ofseaports of Viet Nam so we need to study the successfulport management entities of some experienced countries.

- Limited state budget for investment on ports/seaportsconstruction. Local/foreign organizations and individualsare calling for investment on construction of seaportsand port access channels in accordance with the existinglaws and regulations.

- Development of marine channels could not keep pacewith the increase of maritime actions.
