Long-Term Water StrategyWater Strategy Expert Panel
PIR is developing a long-term water and wastewater infrastructure investment and financing strategy
On August 16, 2004, the government established an Expert Panel to advise on:• How to make the investment needed to improve Ontario’s
water and wastewater infrastructure• How best to organize and deliver water and wastewater
systems and services. The Panel will consult with key stakeholders,
guided by the fundamental principles of affordability, sustainability and achievability• Target completion date: Early 2005.

Long-Term Water StrategySustainable Water and Sewage Systems Act (SWSSA)
SWSSA is legislation that provides for the implementation of full cost recovery for municipal water and wastewater services in Ontario.
Regulations requiring municipalities to comply with the provisions of the Act have not yet been developed.
Efforts underway to obtain expertise to develop background research and analysis required for the development of regulations under the Act
