Cavotec supports the Micro-Tunnel Boring Machine (MTBM) equipment manufacturers with a set of products ensuring a reliable and safe powering of the MTBM. Our equipments support a construction method which minimizes the environment impact and cause zero disruption to operations as there is no requirement of digging trenches.

Power connectors & junction boxes Cavotec heavy-duty power connectors and junction boxes s are used for powering the control container which consists of the control console, Motor Control Centers (MCC) for the slurry pumps, the MTBM drive motor and a bulkhead panel for the electrical and communication connections. Cavotec Connectors “Push & Pull” system is a unique design feature that ensures a quick and safe connect and disconnect of the power whenever required. Based on the site location and conditions, they can be also Ex rated and include with fibre optic for communication purpose. The “Screw Ring” system has special connectors fitted with screw rings which reduce the mechanical stress and extends the life span.

Industrial controllers (Joysticks / Chairs and Radio Remote Controls)Operated remotely, the MTBM is provided with a control room from where operators on the surface can control the machine. Environmentally friendly electric Long Haul Dump (LHD) loaders are modern mining equipments emitting a very low noise and no exhaust fumes. Cavotec supply these equipments which provide a better working environment, reduce cost of operations and maintenance. Cavotec solutions work within the specific needs, constraints and safety requirements as defined by the LHD operation conditions. Cavotec systems have been engineered in order to ensure a product design as per the specific application.

Human Operator Interface (HOI)Cavotec HOI system offer for LHDs is a major advance in terms of operation efficiency. Our solutions improve safety, yield, and accuracy of mining vehicle.The operator can either be operating next to the machine or remotely from a control centre located in a safe area. Steel ChainsBrevetti steel chains are being used in aggressive working conditions. Our steel chains offer are designed to meet the ever increasing requirements from mining companies. For mining drilling, their uncompromising stance on providing only high quality and totally reliable cable chains, they ensure continuous drilling operations so important for surface mining.• Internal and external links used in steel chains are made of

mild steel which has been bright zinc plated. • Separated by anti-friction spacers or with bronze spacers for

high temperature applications.• Steel components can be made from stainless steel AISI 316.

Spring driven cable reelsTypically used for blasthole and track drilling machines, Cavotec spring driven reels are built from modular components which allow a great number of combinations covering most common requirements. Cavotec also custom-engineered cable reels as every client has his own specificity. Main features:• Our reels are totally sealed bearings which are lubricated for

life. • Springs are made of high-grade special steel which

guarantees a long lifetime. The special Cavotec design features a well dimensioned shaft and bearings which allows easy and fast exchange of springs.

• Slipring assembly is mounted in a solid fiberglass reinforced plastic housing which withstands corrosion and mechanical wear. The housing is designed to minimise condensation and to guarantee complete water tightness through glands and seals.

Bulk Materials Handling, Port equipmentShore Power (Cold Ironing)

Cavotec Shore Power Cable Management System is required to bring shore-side power to the ship during hoteling. The system will be either shore mounted or ship-based.

Shore-mounted designCavotec shore-mounted cable management system can be either fix (Cavotec AMP Fix) or mobile (Cavotec AMP Mobile). Both systems are engineered with shore connection made via high voltage cables to a pit fit into the quay or to a ship socket outlet Junction Box.

In some cases, when an additional transformer is required, the cable system will incorporate the additional transformer as an integral part of the power delivery system. Our cable management systems are designed with Cavotec Connectors “quick” electrical connectors for easy handling and safety. Ships participating in a shore-power electrification program will require the installation of shore-power cable receptacles and an associated electrical management system.

Ship-based designThe ship-based cable management system consists of electrical connectors (up to 12kV), flexible cables, slipring, optical fibre accumulator, motor reducer, cable drum, electrical control panel and a retractable hydraulic cable guide which will be installed on the ship deck.

An alternative can also be offered with Cavotec AMP Container. The system will be integrated inside a standard container and stored on board ship, either aft or forward of the accommodation block. As the system is entirely modular, the container can be moved according to vessel or loading requirements.
