Xstrata Zinc is seeking several Mine Technicians at the McArthur River Mine site. MRM operates

a zinc-lead-silver mine in which 2.2 million tonnes of ore is extracted each year and is a FIFO

operation based from Darwin.

The Mine Technician is an entry level position to the mining industry. If you are keen to have

exposure to several areas of mining including Survey Assistant, Pit Technician assisting the Mine

Geologist and Geotechnical Engineers then this is the role for you!

Key areas of the role will be assisting several areas of the Technical Services department

including Geology, Survey and Geotechnical Engineers. On the job training will be provided

with involvement in drilling programs, exposure to the use of GPS equipment in the mining

environment and 3D mining software.

The following attributes will be highly regarded; basic computer skills with an interest in

learning new software and also a keenness to learn about the mining industry and be a part of

a dynamic team. Roster is 8 days on, 6 days off.
