What will you learn?
“My group presentation was on Parkinson’s Disease (PD). I learned a great deal about the disease itself, and how exercise can alleviate detrimental conditions associated with PD. I found this topic particularly relevant to me as my grandfather has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I now know why he has hunched posture, tremors in his hands and a shuffled gait.”
Knowledge
Communication“Since many Revved Up participants have difficulties with communication, including understanding direction and speaking, I have fostered skills to both understand what my participant is asking for, and communicate direction to them in a clear, simple way.”
What will you learn?
“Throughout my time in the Mini-Stream, I have learned a plethora of transferable skills, such as patience, time management and leadership, both when working in the gym and through the coursework.”
Leadership
Transferable Skills“Building on my knowledge from the 336 online modules, and the 436 tutorials and readings, I learned how to assess exercise intensity and volume, and make appropriate adjustments to a program. While in 336 this knowledge was novel, my supervisory role in 436 allowed me to expand upon this knowledge with greater autonomy, which advanced my decision-making and critical thinking skills. Given my personal interest in fitness, this will be advantageous to my daily life and future professional endeavors.”
