Without quoting Miranda Priestly, florals are definitely ground breaking for spring. However floral is not a seasonal trend. This year, there are some quirky adjustments to an all time favourite .

An original option of wearing floral prints is the three-dimensional and oriental floral prints by Alexander Mc-Queen. Antonio Marras’s sensibility turns flowers into abstract artistic prints that will melt your heart.

Antonio Marras’s sensibilty turns flowers into abstract artistic prints that will melt your heart.

10

For Micheal Kors and Carolina Herrera big bright flowers is the pattern, while on street style this trend can be interpreted in very different ways: from high street brands to vintage local markets you will find

roses, sunflowers, lilies, tulips prints everywhere.

11

Denim has also made a comeback for spring. Never in fashion history has this fabric has been used by so many designers in so many different ways!

Stella McCartney presents a chic reinvention of turning worker boyish attire to a high fashion chic with

lovely denim overall and laidback dresses.

12

Gucci and Fendi love the holistic approach to, overlaying jackets, shirts, and pants in a denim explosion while Tommy Hilfiger tries with patchwork approach. Roberto

Cavalli mixes a typical denim shirt with delicate maxi dresses. Jeans has always been a fashion but this season designers are creating new ways to expresses women’s double nature: soft and strong by playing with denim.

13

I love this trend. From Dries Van Noten hippie sit-in to Chanel’s feminists’ girls and Tommy Hilfiger green festival. Revolution is fashion.

So here comes flared pants, maxi skirts, wooden wedge heels, fringes, suede, psychedelic prints, trapeze skirts and turtleneck t-shirts. A gypsy – western – hippie style makes you imagine all the memories from Woodstock. This trend will be just as perfect at Coachella

this year.

15

Troops of army and military inspired fashion are on the runways. It is nothing scary, but women are strengthening their power in a lot of fields. Now, they are ready to express it through their clothes. Trench, pant suits, neutral colours occupy design-ers’ thoughts (Gucci, Victoria Beckham, Ralph Lauren have been infected!) and our outfits. Don’t worry, your feminine beauty and charm won’t be hidden by camou-flage prints: brooches, military decorations and war medals will make you shine!

16

17

Do you want to fly over the rainbow in pastel colours and gentle feathers? Fendi mini dresses, Roberto Cavalli and Oscar De La Renta skirts, Balmain and DSquared2 details have been made for you! Because in springtime emotions and thoughts are light and fresh, are enough to feel the need for our heart to float. This trend has been recon-firmed during Paris Haute Couture shows. But be careful: Elie Saab, Giambattista Valli and company want us to look like angels not chickens!

There are a lot makeup trends to the Spring Summer 2015. But there seems to be one that is more promi-nent than others. Most of the models in New York, Lon-don, Milan and Paris are sporting a dewy and bright complexion as opposed to last year’s 90s matte trend. In with the healthy glowing complexion and out with plain matte foundations.

This trend is not for the faint hearted. Another hot trend during the fashion month is bright coloured lips. The 90’s nude trend seems to be loosing it’s allure. Bright coloured lipstick shades are in. Showstopping colours seems to be the palette of choice when it comes to shades of lipsticks. Put on a red lipstick and live a little!

This trend should be awarded as the most versatile makeup. No matter the occassion or the event you are going to, you can never go wrong with a winged eyeliner. From a au-naturale winged eyeliner to a extended graphic winged eyeliner, this trend has been allover this season. Pair this with a simple lipbalm for a laidback chic look for your day makeup or with a red hot lipstick for a more glamorous look at night.

MODERN DAY FASHION ICONS

36

Even the most stylish of fashionistas are in-fluenced or inspired by a look that they have seen on someone else. Whether intentionally or unintentionally everyone has tried to recreate a certain look that they have loved on another per-son. The entertainment industry is filled with iconic individuals who have helped evolve style, bringing fashion away from just the runway and paving the streets as their new catwalk. Whether through fashion or their work it’s always great to see women in their element, feeling empowered by the freedom to wear what they want and completely own it. Avant Magazine takes a look at just some of these fashionable females who have influenced style recently whether we noticed or not.

Love them or loathe them, the Kardashian/Jenner clan have undeniably dom-inated style trends. From Kylie’s teal green hair and prominent lips make up trend, to Kim’s crop tops and high waisted skirts (everybody was wearing them!) to Khloe’s om-bre hair, Kourtney’s flawless maternity style and not to mention how Kendal ruled the cat walk over the numerous fashion shows that she walked in. (New York, Paris, Milan, London is there anywhere she hasn’t been?)

KYLIE JENNER

37

When you’ve modelled for Burberry, Bal-main and Victoria Secret to name a few, it isinevitable that you would pick up some insanely stylish tips along the way. RosieHuntington has mastered the art of looking flawless both on and off the catwalk. Rosie doesn’t just have one style; she experiments with different looks that unsurprisingly all suit her. Boho chic, leather clad, Paris chic or just casual cashmere cardigans thrown on with ripped denim; the simplicity yet diversity of her outfits make it easy for women to imitate or draw inspiration from her looks.

When linked to arguably the most adored man in Hollywood you can expect to bethrusted under the spotlight and scrutinised for what you look like and more importantly what you are wear-ing. Luckily for Amal Clooney it seems to come naturally. Despite her tremendously busy life what with being an internationally celebrated human rights lawyer new-ly married wife and constantly travelling in between, Amal is consistent in looking perfectly polished every time she is pictured. Her chic style is loved by the fash-ionable working ladies who have found their new style icon when it comes to mastering sophisticated glamour!

Taylor Swift has fast become everyone’s unconcealed pleasure! Not only for her chart topping, ex-boyfriend shaming, incredible music but also for the way she has influenced style all whilst strutting around con-fidently in her signature, jazzy red lipstick. Swift has become famous for her unique style from the cool bowler hats, perfectly seamed dresses with ankle heeled boots, skirts and cutesy printed blouses and not to forget her very own range of Keds, designed by the talented country singer causing a frenzy amongst young girls to get their hands on a pair. Taylor Swift has made her mark in the fashion industry so much so that you can easily imagine walking down a beauti-fully lit shopping mall, passing a great window display in an apparel store and pointing at a well dressed mannequin and saying ‘that outfit is so Taylor Swift!’

Despite being only eighteen years old Hailey Baldwin has become known as the young queen of street style. A young model from New York, Hailey reinvented what it means to look rugged yet stylish. Retro, modern and always one hundred percent on point, Hailey’s outfits always look effortless causing an even greater envy from the rest of the world. From distressed jeans, leather chelsea boots, cropped vests, bomber jackets, and then topping off her looks with minimal makeup which enhances the focus on her fashionable accessories and impeccable fashion sense instead. Hailey Baldwin has secretly influenced people by initiating a style that has spread across the world even being credited for her influencing style on several social media sites and blogs making her one to keep an eye on.

bBEAUTYI think it is safe to say that plastic sur-gery is no longer a taboo. It has become increasingly more prominent in today’s society; more and more people are hav-ing one, two and even three procedures done. It makes us ask the question; why? Not only are more people having pro-cedures done, they are now very hap-py to broadcast their latest additions.

This can be for a number of reasons but there is one that stands out and that is celebrity endorsement and reality TV shows such as Keeping up with the Kar-dashian’s and TOWIE. These programs and the reality TV stars have made it the norm to have plastic surgery... buttocks enhancement procedures, lip fillers... the list goes on. One prime example of this is Kim Kardashian. This woman is a walking plastic surgery endorsement. Not to men-tion Kyle Jenner’s lips which have sparked new trends with many females around the globe. We asked a number of people if they believe that celebrity endorsement and reality TV has made plastic surgery more acceptable and over 80% of peo-ple stated yes and more than half of the people asked, said they would undergo a procedure to ‘enhance their confidence’

HOT TOPIC

44

Although there is no evidence to suggest that Kylie has had any lip enhancement proce-dures, women are still very eager to get lips just like her and will do anything from exper-imenting with make-up to getting lip fillers. Out of everyone that was interviewed 46% of people said they would have a breast en-largement, 53% said they would have lipo-suction, 23% of people would have a nose job and a mere 7% would have lip fillers. From my experience and from analysing the people in my workplace, 3 out of 5 people have had their lips enhanced or a breast enhancement. It would seem that so many young girls are made to feel self-conscious about their appearance, resulting in them going through procedures to enhance their confidence and make themselves feel better.

76% of people stated that they believe plas-tic surgery has become a fashion trend above anything else. This goes to show that people are expressing themselves not only through clothing choices but by making dras-tic changes to their bodies in order to stand out and to be different. So this answers the question as to why people are enhancing their appearances, but there must be deep-er sub-conscious meanings behind it all?

We asked part-time Sales Assistant about her recent breast enhancement, she replied that she believed having big-ger breasts would “greatly enhance her sexuality and make her more appealing to males” as she has a “boy-like figure” and these will “add some shape” to her body. When asked if she would consider having any other procedures she said she would “not say no to lip fillers” as she’s seen how many women’s appearances have improved and she wants to be part of that trend. Ideally she hopes that this will greatly im-prove her chances of finding a boyfriend.Adding to that, she did say that she agreed that “celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Lauren Pope, and all of those TOW-IE stars create a body image for wom-an and men to aspire to at all costs, re-gardless of their financial burdens”.Is this a passing phase? We can only hope, as it would seem that plastic surgery is be-coming more and more outrageous. Where will people stop and how far will this go?It is true that plastic surgery has been in the news for a very long time, but recently we have seen the invention of the Human Ken and Human Barbie. This poses the ques-tion; do we believe that there should be tighter regulations on plastic surgery proce-dures? We’ve heard of many stories where surgery has gone very, very wrong. Do we

EXPERIENCES

ELEVEN11 DESIGN (2014)I had an opportunity to work with eleven11 design. This company is an independent clothing line and they create unique graphics and print it to different types of clothing for male and female. For their new line I was hired to photograph their new products for showcasing. I used my DSLR skills to photograph the behind the scenes. I then used Adobe Photoshop to edit all the images to add graphics and to add professional ef-fects to the images. I had an opportunity to work with a film maker who had a great passion with photography and he taught me things such as lighting. I also met models and fashion designers.

TATE BRITAIN (2014)Certainly, this is nothing to brag about. But it’s definitely noteworthy. I got involve with one of Tate Britain’s event called ‘The 1840’s GIF party. Thousands of people upload their own creations and they only choose the best ones. Over 3000 people attend the event and it was just such a pleasure to see your work in a place where the best work in the world is displayed and it was nice to see people enjoying the work.

DESIGN MUSEUM (2015)This year in the Design Museum, they had a competition for Design students in UK. 350 design students applied nationwide and they had to pick only 40 students. I was fortunate enough to be one of those students. This project was all about user-centric design thinking. I was invited to design an intervention that will make the intended user feel something strongly about themselves. With this year’s Design Factory brief, we were asked to explore: How can we design new objects, spaces and systems to affect the way people see themselves and the roles they fulfill? It was a difficult and broad task and I handled it professionally and it all paid off in the end. I got to meet different designers and the field they work in. We were all rewarded with a certificate, congratulating us for our successful participa-tion to the competition.

AVANT MAGAZINE (2015)I had this great opportunity to work with an independent magazine publisher and I was recruited to design this years spring issue. I was in charged to create a modern, clean look to the content provided to me. I had to look at modern magazines and magazines with the same genre to create an aesthetically pleasing magazine. I got to work with an editor who coaches me in the production of the magazine. In the making of the mag-azine, I used software such as Adobe Indesign and Photoshop. I also used a DSLR to photograph some of the content of the magazine. The magazine was uploaded to this website called ISSUU which allowed anyone to view the magazine.

YOUTH CAMP (2013)I had an opportunity with the Youth Camp association. Youth Camp is a summer camp event where young people ages 5-18 yrs old, experience fun activities for 4 days. I was asked to be the graphic designer for this association. My job was to create an invitation to attract the target audience to join. The invitation was printed and distributed to the selected towns in West Sussex. In the production stage of the invitation, I used some of the photos I took from the previous event and edited it with Adobe Photoshop. I saw what it was like to work with clients and meeting deadlines. Doing exactly what the client wants but includ-ing some of my creative ideas to the table.

WEALDEN EMBROIDERY (2013)They offer a professional and reliable screen printing and embroidery services onto garments including t-shirts, polos, hoodies, sweatshirts, leisure/sportswear, work-wear and corporate clothing. In this work experience, I learned a lot about screen print, embroidery prints and also working with a team.

PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE (2013)Photography is one of my favorite hobbies and it has given me many experiences. One of them was being the official photographer to a wedding. This was a pretty big job and I have never done anything like this. I only had one chance to do this and I needed to capture their big day beautifully. I had very minimal skills on the DSLR camera but I compensated on the photo editing. I used Adobe Photoshop to enhance the photographs I took and to make look more professional.

DIMSUM CORNER (2014)This is another of my freelance work. I had a privilege of working with Dimsum Cor-ner. Dimsum Corner is a small independent company that provides Asian street foods at big festivals. Feeding hundreds of people, selling clean, oriental food. I was asked to design their logo, posters, menu and t-shirts. It was quite a big project but I had a lot of support from the owner of the company. They provided enough in-formation about the company so I can convert those information in to a logo. They wanted a clean and modern design for the logo and I had to do a research of exist-ing logos to inspire me. I used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to design the logo. When the logos were finished and banners were printed, it was proudly displayed in their catering stand, being displayed and showcased to hundreds of people.
