Effective Process ControlBL 983317 and BL 983327 are panelmounted mini controllers with an outputrelay that have been designed for easy, affordable installation in tightspaces—ideal for simple yet effective process control.

They are provided with automaticcompensation for variations intemperature. The probe is easy-to-cleanand requires very little maintenance. Thecalibration is performed at 1 point,through a trimmer.

All wiring and connections to externaldevices are done through the terminals onthe rear panel. The multicolor LEDcontinuously indicates if the controller isin measurement, dosing or alarm mode.

You can also choose automatic or manualdosing mode with a switch on the frontpanel. Manual control is particularlyuseful during maintenance operations,because it permits you to enable ordisable the dosing relay according to yourneed. The overtime control system advisesyou when the relay is active too long,helping to prevent overdosing.

pH Mini ControllersMonitoring and controlling pH in waterconditioning and industrial applications isessential for water quality and maintaininginfrastructure (piping and equipment). In the case of industrial effluent, neutralization of acidic waste is vital forenvironmental safety and public health. Inindustrial applications such as boiler feedwater conditioning, a higher pH of 8.5 is necessary to prevent scaling andcorrosion of critical components.Maintaining a pH of 7.4 is fundamentalfor proper and efficient sanitization inswimming pools and spas. Theeffectiveness of sanitizers such as chlorineis dependent on a controlled pH value.

ORP Mini ControllersORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) is themost dependable and consistent indicatorof the sanitizing effectiveness of yourpool, spa or treatment water. As oxidizerssuch as chlorine, peroxide and ozone areadded to water for the purpose ofsanitization, the ORP value increases,providing a clear indication of thecleansing power of the water. Typically, anORP value of 650 to 700 mV at a pH of 7.2indicates that your water is properlytreated and all harmful bacteria are killedin less than 1 second. ORP is also essentialin chemical processing where reducingagents are used and a negative ORP valueis an indicator of proper neutralization.

Conductivity MiniControllersIn water, an increase in conductivity indicates an increase in water hardness and a decrease in purity. Conductivity monitoring and control is essential inreducing water hardness and maintainingwater quality. For instance, water with aconductivity value in the range of 0-140 µSis considered "very soft" where as waterwith a range of 640-840 µS is considered"hard" water. An increase in conductivityindicates an increase in the amount ofdamaging dissolved solids (salts) presentin water. Conductivity monitoring and controlis essential in industrial applications suchas feed water control, blow downactivation in cooling towers and watermanagement. In these applications, highconductivity will cause scaling andcorrosion of piping and damage to criticalcomponents.

TDS Mini ControllersTDS measurement is an importantindicator of water quality. An increase inthe TDS reading indicates an increase inthe amount of dissolved solids (salts)present in the water. TDS monitoring andcontrol is imperative in industrialapplications such as feed water control,blow down activation in cooling towersand water management, in theseapplications high TDS will cause scaling

and corrosion of piping and damage tocritical components.

TDS measurement is also an importantindicator of the effectiveness of waterconditioning since an increase in TDSindicates an increase in water hardnessand a decrease in purity. This will affectthe quality of drinking water, feed waterand rinse water. TDS monitoring andcontrol is crucial in reducing waterhardness and maintaining water qualityand usability.

Resistivity MiniControllerResistivity, measured in MΩ (Ohm's), isthe optimal way to measure the quality ofwater produced by high purity systemssuch as R.O systems and waterconditioning equipment. As filter systemsbecome less effective, the resistivity valuewill decrease indicating a need formaintenance and/or replacement of filtersand critical components. Properlyfunctioning RO and water conditioningsystems will consistently produce waterwith resistivity readings in the range of 16to 18MΩ.

BL 982411 can be used with any ORPelectrode with standard BNC connector.The instrument measures ORP in the 0 to1000 mV range and shows the readings onthe large display. The status LEDcontinuously indicates if the controller isin measurement, dosing or alarm mode.

BL 982411 is also provided with a relayfor selecting the dosing direction,oxidizing or reducing.

You can also choose automatic or manualdosing mode with a switch on the frontpanel. Manual control is particularlyuseful during maintenance operations,because it permits you to enable ordisable the dosing relay according to your need. The overtime control systemadvises you when the relay is active fortoo long, helping to prevent over-dosage.

This versatile controller is ideal for manyapplications, such as ORP monitoringbleaching processes, waste watertreatment and swimming pools. BL 932700permits automatic control of installationspreviously checked manually.

The instrument can be set for reducing oroxidizing dosage. It measures in the±1000 mV range, with 1 mV resolution.Setpoint adjustment and calibration aresimply performed through trimmers on thefront panel. You can also chooseautomatic or manual dosing mode with aswitch on the front panel. Manual controlis particularly useful during maintenanceoperations, because it permits you toenable or disable the dosing relayaccording to your need.
