As a father of 4 boys under the age of five, owner Jason Green had the idea that an indoor playground would be a great option for them. But the area didn’t haven’t anything like that, so he created a space where his family and others could come together for safe, engaging indoor fun. While designing the facility’s playgrounds, he knew top-notch equipment was key. After much research and outreach to similar businesses, he found the perfect company. He was able to work directly with them to create the space exactly as he wanted it. And, because the specialty equipment manufacturer he selected uses thicker steel than the industry standard, it’s built to last. The junior playground and main playground contain all the essentials: climbing equipment, ball pits, balloon house, and more. Other attractions within the facility include a crawler area, kinetic sand stations, 3D LED dance floor with bubble machine, foam ball-blaster area, arcade, and a café. The main playground consists of two levels designed to offer a fully inclusive experience for the whole family. Jason shared it was important to him when designing the space that parents be able to join their children on the equipment, rather than simply watch from the sidelines. It’s already not uncommon to see adults running around having just as much fun as the kids! On working with Minghini’s, Jason said that “This is all new to me and a project like this was new for them, too, but their level of organization and responsiveness made it easy.” In fact, Jason plans on opening several of these indoor playgrounds and we’re already discussing working together on the next one. FEATURED PROJECT

This quarter, we enjoyed completing the build-out for Ready Set Play, an 8,000 square foot indoor playground now open in Hagerstown, MD. As a father of 4 boys under the age of five, owner Jason Green had the idea that an indoor playground would be a great option for them. EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

THE DIGITAL ADVANTAGE

Foreman Jason Collis has been with Minghini’s for four years and is a key member of our team. With nearly 20 years of experience in the construction industry behind him, he effectively leads teams on large-scale projects to ensure that the job is always done on time and to the highest of standards. In addition to being a good leader, Jason is a quick thinker. On the recent Ready Set Play project, he used Google Translate to coordinate with the Mandarin-speaking equipment installation team. He shares that while certainly a new experience, it was a rewarding one. Jason enjoys working here because of the quality of the Minghini’s team, and we’re pleased to have him as a part of it!

Technology has become an integral part of nearly every industry’s day-to-day operations, and this is especially so in the construction business. Recent years have seen a drastic rise in the application of digital technology in construction firms around the world, leading to increased efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction. In particular, mobile technology and software has opened up a realm of new possibilities. Contractors and project managers can now monitor work progress remotely, as well as use special apps to help schedule work, manage it, and report on it. Other software has been developed to help prevent accidents and ensure work safety on the job. Another emerging use? Communication in the field. While working on the build-out for Ready Set Play in Hagerstown, MD, the Minghini’s team found itself working in close proximity with the Chinese equipment company’s US-based installation team for several weeks. With the highly technical nature of the work, it was crucial that the respective teams be able to communicate quickly and clearly. Working with a language barrier present proved to be a learning process, but the quality of the work more than paid off in the end. In order to foster this successful work environment, Foreman Jason Collis turned to technology. He installed Google Translate and was able to use it to coordinate with the installers. One can speak into the microphone, and the app will then translate what was said and read it out in the specified language. In this case, Mandarin. And their team could “speak” right back! We’re proud to be at the forefront of our field thanks to an innovative team that makes it possible.

Continuing to build on the success of her online women’s clothing boutique, named 2019 WV Online Boutique of the Year, Tia Collis has opened Savannah Grace’s first storefront location on Foxcroft Avenue in Martinsburg, WV! Inspired by the positive impact her shop has had in the community and towards her goal of funding IVF treatments for others, Tia is excited to expand and looks forward to the new possibilities a physical location brings.

Minghini’s has enjoyed sponsoring grandson Boyd Collis’ Under 8 soccer team, couched by dad Morgan Collis, through the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation program.

Our Vice President, Berniece Collis, was recognized for her involvement by being named Citizen of the Year by the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce in November. On receiving this well-deserved honor, Berniece shared how rewarding it has been to serve with a group of similarly devoted individuals on the Chamber and thanked her family for their support.

Further channeling her leadership capabilities for the good of others, Berniece served on a goal-setting panel in December with other local female leaders. Presented by the Women’s Network of the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce, the seminar was inspired by the book Smarter, Faster, Better: The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg and included a “Pay It Forward” activity session. Sharing their collective set of core values for success, the panel members guided participants through the process of charting their own paths to achieving their goals.
