The Mindanao Knowledge, Research, and Policy Center or MKRPC envisions to be the think tank for Mindanao, embracing the thrusts of MINDANAO 2020. It will be an independent, state-of-the-art center that will support the growth of the research environment in the academe, as well as their practical applications towards the development of Mindanao. The Center hopes to provide research-based and evidence-based analysis and advice to government and other decision-makers, as well as technology and R&D support to Mindanao’s key industries.

Operating under the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) together with the Mindanao Studies Consortium Foundation, Inc. (MSCFI), the center is currently on its way to full establishment, starting operations only in 2013.

As Mindanao continues its pursuit for growth hinged on genuine peace and development, it needs government policy support that truly answers its specific needs to allow it to progress. It is critical, therefore, for planners and decision-makers to have access to credible and reliable research and studies to anchor their effective plans and policies to accelerate growth and development in Mindanao.

The Mindanao 2020 Peace and Development Framework Plan or Mindanao 2020 calls for the creation of an independent Mindanao research and development center that will provide research-based and evidence-based plans, policy analysis and advices to government, business, and other significant sectors. Hence, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) established the Mindanao Knowledge, Research and Policy Center (MKRPC).
