• BiodiversityandEco-TourismClusterinSouthCentralCorridorischaracterizedbyadiverseecosystemwithrainforests,caveformations,rivers,pristineshorelines,andcriticalhabitatsofendemicfloraandfauna.

• Ofthetotal2.0millionhectaresforestcoverareaofMindanao,around40%arefoundinthiscluster.

• More than 50% of Mindanao’s totalagriculture production comes from theSouthCentralMindanaoCorridormakingitthefoodbasketofthecountry.

• Of the total palay and corn productionin Mindanao, around 60% and 55% iscontributedbythiscluster,respectively.

• The mariculture and trade cluster, located in theWesternMindanaoCorridor, is the topproducer offishery-based products and seaweed in Mindanao,accountingfor60%ofitstotaloutput.

• A large share of Mindanao’s total production inrubber (52%), mango (37%), and coconut (24%) isalsoaccountedforbythiscluster.

• This cluster enjoys edge in trade and economiccooperation given its cultural ties andproximity toMalaysia,Indonesia,andBruneiDarussalam.

BUSINESS and INDUSTRIAL TRADE CLUSTER

• Food, agri and agri-processing industry, andmineral resource development dominate theSouthCentralMindanaoDevelopmentCorridor.

• Davao City, the business, tourism and serviceshubandGeneral SantosCity, theagri-business,trade,finance,and transporthub, serveas twinmaingrowthcentersinthiscluster.

• Of the total Mindanao Gross Value Added inTrade,53.8%iscontributedbythiscluster.• Thebusinessandindustrialclusterin

NorthernMindanaoisthegatewaytodomesticmarketsinVisayasandLuzonasithoststheLaguindinganAirport,MindanaoIntegratedContainerTerminal(MICT)andotherheavyandlargeindustriesintheCagayan-IliganIndustrialCorridor.

• PHIVIDEC,with88manufacturingandserviceorientedfirmlocators,operateswithinthecluster.

Mindanao is subdivided into three (3) development corridors:Northern Mindanao Development Corridor, South-CentralMindanao Development Corridor, and Western MindanaoDevelopmentCorridorwithfive (5) industrial clusters thathavecomplementaryrolesandcompetitiveadvantages.

OBJECTIVES

AAligningwiththenationalgovernment’sSocialContractwith the Filipino People, theMindanao DevelopmentAuthority(MinDA)adoptstheMindanaoDevelopmentCorridors as a key spatial strategy thatwill help pavethe way for a connected and globally-competitiveMindanao.

Under the Mindanao 2020 Peace and DevelopmentFramework Plan as MinDA’s roadmap for peace anddevelopment, this corridor initiative aims to improveinfrastructure, establish connectivity, and spur thedevelopment of growth clusters within Mindanao,allowing it to achieve balanced and inclusive growthamongitsregions.ThiswillalsohelppositionMindanaoasasingle,integratedeconomythatisabletoleverageand participate in EAGA, ASEAN, and the globaleconomiccommunity.
