WAGOLL (What a Good One Looks Like)

There it was. Cold. Silent. Staring right back at me. A surge of curiosity coursed through my veins as I dared to take a closer look.

At first, it appeared to be a plain, dark metal door handle; I noticed delicate patterns festooned across its handle which twisted like a delicate petal waking from a hard winter. The keyhole felt as though it was staring at me, and watching every movement I took.

As I mused over this door handle, I realised how long I had been captivated by it. With shallow breaths, I reached out. Cold metal met the beads of sweat seeping from my fingertips, and a groan escaped the handle as I gingerly twisted it open. Cobwebs hung with all their might to the edges of the wooden door, and a deluge of damp, musty air surrounded me.

What I saw in front of me took the final breath from my lungs...
