JOB DESCRIPTION - Communications Assistant

Reporting to: Wellbeing Access Project CoordinatorDuration: 12 month contract from start of employment Hours: 3 days (18 hours) a weekSalary: £17,316 per annum pro rataLocation: The jobholder will be based at the Wellbeing Centre, Stevenage - some flexibility is possible, there

might be an occasional requirement for out of hours working and occasional travel to the other offices (Welwyn Garden City, Hertford and St Albans)

Mind in Mid Herts provides group and 1-to-1 services to support and help people recover from mental health problems. It has 33 staff (20 WTE) and 80 volunteers working in 4 centres and in the community across north and central Hertfordshire. St Albans (Head Office) and Stevenage are large centres providing a broad range of services including psychological therapies, life skills training, employment support and group sessions. Hertford and Welwyn Garden City provide similar services on a smaller scale. Outreach services are being provided increasingly, to support people in the community.

This role is also to support communications through, social media, the web site and fundraising support for people fund raising for MiMH’s.

AccountabilityThe post holder will be line-managed by the Wellbeing Access Project Coordinator but will manage their own workload, prioritising tasks and working on their own initiative.

Principal responsibilities are:

To assist with the development of promotional material, the database, social media and the web site. To support fundraising. To work with all projects and services to ensure appropriate support is available with regard to promotion and

reporting. To create reports and provide promotional data for senior management and the Trustee Board, as required. To offer 1-to-1, email and telephone support to staff and volunteers in connection with communications,

promotion and reporting. To assist with meeting data protection and information governance requirements in line with the NHS

Information Governance Toolkit, Mind Quality Management and other quality standards. To work in line with the aims and objectives of MiMH. To establish a supportive and respectful relationship with staff, volunteers and service users. To gain knowledge of legislation and national and local policies in relation to mental health and promotions. To ensure that all duties are carried out to a satisfactory standard and in accordance with MiMH’s quality

standards. To carry out all duties with due regard to MiMH’s policies and procedures. To undertake other duties as may be reasonably determined by the Wellbeing Access Project Coordinator,

senior managers and the CEO.

Marketing and Promotional Activity

To promote and raise the profile of Mind in Mid Herts within the local community. The aim is to raise awareness.

To attend community events and conferences - actively promoting Mind in Mid Herts. To develop and work with colleagues to create innovative ways to promote Mind in Mid Herts services

including the use of social media, (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube) and traditional promotional methods (eg leaflet drops, posters and newsletters) using digital marketing skills such as the creation of promotional videos, as well as up-dating the website.

To be pro-active in researching promotional opportunities such as local events, flagship days and conferences.

To update local resource information and share this with relevant teams.

Key Requirements

Excellent planning and organisational skills. Good working knowledge of relevant functional systems such as MS Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly numerate. Must enjoy working as part of a busy team and be happy to support other members of the team when needed. Act as a positive role model, showing professional and caring attitudes and behaviour towards other team

members, partners, service users and carers. Work within the MiMH Quality Standards, ensuring compliance across the organisation whilst maintaining and

representing the organisation’s ethos and values. Maintain a high level of confidentiality, discretion, sensitivity and a neutral position within the organisation.

Benefits

All full-time employees have an entitlement of 25 days paid holiday per year (April 1st - March 31st). Statutory bank and public holidays are in addition to standard holiday entitlement. Part-time employees' holidays entitlement is pro-rata.
