Insight’s License Reconciliation Service was conducted in three steps, performed through a combination of on-site and off-site activities including:

1. Inventory - Collating the relevant license information for purchased products from the software vendors, including purchase history information from resellers and software vendors.

2. License Assessment and Reconciliation – Consolidating all Minara’s license information into useable licenses by reconciling underlying licenses, upgrades and maintenance entitlements.

3. Reporting – Preparing a schedule that compared the software products and respective versions that Minara were entitled to use. This report highlighted any over-licensing and under-licensing, and how to address any gaps.

Insight’s comprehensive Software Asset Management Framework (SAM) and License Reconciliation Services (LRS) critically assessed Minara’s entire software environment and highlighted where they were both over and under licensed across its various Software Vendors. The framework also offered Minara strategies for embracing industry best practices and ongoing software compliance to ensure they were getting maximum return on their software assets.

ReSulTS

“Thanks to Insight we were able to reduce our annual software license costs.”

- Mr Ross Dillon, Team Leader IT Operations, Minara Resources

Through an effective Software Asset Management Strategy, Minara has been able to reduce its annual license costs, while ensuring compliance with their license contract requirements. Managers at Minara now have access to reliable information for making investment decisions and negotiating with software manufacturers.

Insight’s Software Asset Management Program offered Minara the following benefits:

» guaranteed Software Compliance

With the assurance of an accurate, up to date compliance status, Minara could rest easy, knowing they were compliant and meeting the terms and conditions of their end user licensing agreements.

» Cost Savings & Return on Software Investment

Insight’s SAM review found that many licenses the company owned were actually not being used or being used efficiently. Excess licenses were documented eliminating the need to purchase a new license the next time that software was required, leading to cost savings. Minara was more able to increase their focus on core business, needing fewer internal resources as it once did for software licensing.
