Discover some of West Auckland’s hidden creative treasures
Enjoy nature and art in harmony – follow the award-winning network of Project Twin Streams walk and cycleways to discover hidden creative treasures in your neighbourhood.
These maps highlight long-term art projects found along the Oratia and Opanuku streams. A number of the artworks have been created by volunteer groups that have cared for their adopted area of the stream for many years.
The commitment and passion of the Project Twin Streams’ communities is reflected not only in the improved environment around you, but is also expressed through the art they have created.
From poetry to sculpture, murals to ceramics – take a self-guided tour of cultural discovery through West Auckland.
Project Twin Streams; working together for healthy streams and strong communities: creating a sustainable future.

Who We AreProject Twin Streams is a partnership between Auckland Council and local communities working to repair and restore 56kms of stream banks in West Auckland. The project not only focuses on environmental outcomes, but also uses art to creatively engage hearts and minds in connecting people with their natural environment and raising awareness of environmental issues. Art gives expression to the community experience of Project Twin Streams and offers opportunities for the whole community to participate – regardless of age, ability or capacity.
