The event, entitled ‘Young Voices’ is to take place on Thursday 2 nd February 2017 at the MEN Arena in Manchester. The 'Young Voices' concert series has been held in Manchester for nearly 20 years and is a growing success, claiming that it is: “The largest children’s concert series in the world”. As well as the unique experience of massed-choral singing, children will have the opportunity to hear, and sing with, some of the great artiests of our day. Previous artiests include Alexandra Burke, Joss Stone, Gary Barlow, Lee Ryan, Lemar, Katherine Jenkins, Chris de Burgh and David Gray - to name but a few. On the day of the performance (2 nd February), your child will be escorted by the choir leaders and other members of staff to the MEN Arena, leaving school on a coach at 1.00pm. The early start is to allow the pupils to rehearse with the conductors and musicians. They will remain at the venue until the concert finishes at 9.15pm. Pupils must be collected from the 'Hunts Bank / Victoria Station Approach' entrance of the MEN Arena at approximately this time. Parents / Guardians are requested to make individual arrangements for their son’s / daughter’s travel home from the concert. If this is problematic please see either myself, or Mrs Garvey and we will try to assist in the matter. The concert commences at 7.00pm and ends at 9.15pm. During the daytime rehearsal, the choir will not be permitted to leave the arena and therefore it will be necessary to bring a suitable packed meal. This should be in addition to their usual lunch-time arrangements. Pupils should wear school uniform and will need either an official white 'Young Voices T-Shirt' which can be ordered through the school office at a cost of £10 each, or alternatively a plain white T-Shirt. Orders for T-Shirts must be received before Friday 11 th November 2016.

Dear Parent / Guardian,

I am writing to inform you about a forthcoming event in which the school choir will be participating. The event, entitled ‘Young Voices’ is to take place on Thursday 2nd February 2017 at the MEN Arena in Manchester.

The 'Young Voices' concert series has been held in Manchester for nearly 20 years and is a growing success, claiming that it is:

“The largest children’s concert series in the world”.

On the day of the performance (2nd February), your child will be escorted by the choir leaders and other members of staff to the MEN Arena, leaving school on a coach at 1.00pm.

Orders for T-Shirts must be received before Friday 11th November 2016.

Parents / Guardians wishing to attend the concert can order tickets through school at a cost of £19.50 each. Orders for tickets will need to be received by the office no later than Friday 11th November 2016. Tickets can also be purchased through the MEN Box-Office up until the 25th November, however, tickets bought from the Box-Office will be more expensive (they will have the addition of the Arena Booking fee added) and parents may not be seated in proximity to the choir and other parents of pupils from St Bede.

The high cost of the tickets reflects the prestigious venue and the input from celebrity performers. Some of the proceeds from the event will be donated to charity.

Many children have shown an interest in taking part in the concert and I am sure that the event will be extremely enjoyable and memorable. Due to the expense of this event, the school only participates once every 2/3 years. This allows choir members to experience the concert at least once during their time at St Bede and hopefully their memories of the event will last a lifetime.

It is of great importance that pupils who put their names forward attend all choir rehearsals prior to the event and also undertake additional practice at home. For this purpose, a lyric sheet and CD will be given to all choir members.

More information about the event, including video-footage, can be found at:

Please indicate below your agreement for your son / daughter to be involved with the ‘Young Voices’ Concert.

Yours sincerely,

J. Hatch B Garvey/A Lawson
