Prehistoric Weapons Weapons made of animal bones, wood, and stones. The

spears remained the principal weapon of Prehistoric people. Although still used for hunting, it was also used in times of conflict with other groups.

Ancient WarfareAncient warfare Weapons are made of metals like bronze and

copper. Among these are edged weapons like knives and swords, bow types like the short bow, crossbow and longbow

Medieval Warfare The warfare of the Middle Ages. In Europe, technological,

cultural, and social developments had forced a dramatic transformation in the character of warfare from antiquity, changing military tactics and the role of cavalry and artillery.

Medieval weapons varied from simple tools, like arrows, to complex engines of emerging medieval warfare technology, like cannons.

Medieval weapons were made by skilled blacksmiths. The main materials being Steel and Iron.

Gunpowder Warfare

Gunpowder, also called black powder, is an explosive mixture of sulfur, charcoal and potassium nitrate, KNO3 (also known as saltpetre/saltpeter) that burns rapidly, producing volumes of hot solids and gases which can be used as a propellant in firearms and as a pyrotechnic composition in fireworks.

Early Modern warfare is associated with the start of the widespread use of gunpowder and the development of suitable weapons to use the explosive.
