WHYSIGNUPFORCANSKATE?CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skilldevelopment. Your child can expect action, movement and fun! Lessons are given in groupformat, where skaters progress at their own rate. Our NCCP-trained professional coaches &trained program assistantsmake sessions active using teaching aids, upbeatmusic, and awidevariety of activities that create a motivational environment that promotes learning. Badges,ribbons, and other incentives are used to benchmark skaters’ progress and reward effort andparticipation.WHATTOWEAR?Youwillneedskates,aCSA-approvedhockeyhelmet(nobikehelmets),longpantsorsnowpants,mittens,warmsweaterorjacket.Dressinlayers–itwillgetwarm!

TheMileZeroFigureSkatingClubhastheresponsibilityofmaintainingfinancialviabilityoftheclub.Inaddition to the registration fees, fundraising is an expectation of each skating family to ensure thecontinued financial success of the club. SKATERRESPONSIBILITIES

Skater’sName:

Allskaterswill followthesepolicies.Failuretocomplywillresultinsuspensionofskating

privilegesfora lengthoftimedeterminedbytheMileZeroFigureSkatingClubExecutive.

• Skater is to be on time for all skating andoff ice sessions. Pleasenotify coaches and instructors

whenyouwill beabsent.

• Synchroisapartofourclub’sStarskateprogram.Yourteammatesandcoachesarecountingonyou

tobethere.

• Off- icesessionsaremandatory.Unacceptablebehaviorwillbesubject to thesameconsequences

ason-ice behaviorinfractions.

• Only coaches have priority for requesting music. A parent cannot request the music player to

play their skater’smusic.

• Skate Canada has a Harassment policy. Harassment of any skater, employee or executive

member of the MOFSCwillnotbe tolerated.Anyonefound inviolationof theHarassmentPolicy

willsubjecttoasuspension.

• Swearingatotherskatersorcoachesisunacceptableandwillnotbetolerated.

• Pickingholes, ice stomping, sittingor lyingon the ice isnotacceptableandwillnotbe tolerated.

Skatersin violationwillbeaskedtoleavetheicefortheremainderofthesession.

• ThereistobeNOSTANDINGingroupsanywhereontheice.Skatersareremindedthaticetimeis

restricted andtheskaterswhoarejustwastingtimewillbegivenwarningsforbettericeutilization.

• Each skater is responsible for picking up his/her garbage and for keeping his/her area in the

dressingroom cleanandpresentable.

• Nobody(skatersorparents)isallowedtotouchanotherindividual’sbelongings.

• Patchingistobedonebyallskatersonthelastsessionofeachday.

• Skatermustwatchforthosewhosemusicisbeingplayedandthoseinalesson.Rightofwaygoes

totheskaterwhosemusicisplayedfirst,thentheskaterinalesson.

• Coaches are not to be interrupted UNLESS a skater needs permission to leave the ice before a

session ends. Skaters shouldmake every effort to speak with the coaches prior to the session

beginningiftheymustleaveearly.Skatersshouldalsomakeeveryefforttoremainontheicefor

theentiresession.

• Nonon-clubmembersareallowedindressingrooms

Weareaclubandworkhardtoensurethateveryoneistreatedwithkindnessandrespect.Pleasehelp

tomakethe arenaaplacethatisenjoyedbyeveryone.

PARENTCODEOFCONDUCT

SkateCanadaiscommittedtoensuringthatallskatershavetheopportunitytoparticipateinasafeandwelcomingenvironmentthatisencouragingandpromotestheiroveralldevelopment.Parentshaveanenormousinfluenceonskater’s experiences in the sport. The quality of a skater’s experience is determined by their relationships withparentsandthemannerinwhichparentsconductthemselvesintheSkateCanadaenvironment.Inthiscode“parents”shallreferto“parentsandguardians”.ThiscodeappliestoallparentswhoaremembersofSkateCanadaorhavechildrenwhoaremembersofSkateCanada.ParentsshallabidebythiscodeatalltimeswhileparticipatinginanySkateCanadaclubcompetition,oractivity.

• Parent shall refrain from any behavior, or comments, which are profane, insulting, harassing,

abusive,disrespectfulorotherwiseoffensivewithouthostilityorviolence.

• Ensurethatyourchildorchildrenareontimeforallsessionandappropriatelydressed.

• EnsurethatyourchildorchildrenknowandunderstandtherulesoftheClubandrealizethatthey

mustobeythem.RulesareinthehandbookandontheSkateCanadawebsite.

• Payallbillsinatimelymanner

• All skatersMUSTberegisteredbeforeyoursessionsbegin. Youwillnotbeallowedon the ice if

yourregistrationandpaymenthavenotbeenreceived.

• Bepreparedtosignupformusicplayingorpayamusicfee.

• Encourageson/daughtertomaintainahealthybalancebetweenskatingandlife(i.e.,school,other

activities,sociallife,etc)

• Encouragebalanced,healthyfoodchoicesandsubscribetoanactiveandhealthylifestyle.

• Parentsshalltreatallindividualsandpropertywithdignity,courtesyandrespect,includingbutnot

limited to skaters, coaches, officials, volunteers, other parents, and all other individuals that are

partoftheclub.

• Parentsshallopenlysupportandupholdthiscodeofconductpolicyandtakeactionandstepsto

ensureotherparentsfollowandupholdthiscodeofconductpolicy,alsoinhandbook.
