DEAR FRIENDS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS,In line with the tradition the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry once again presents to your attention for the 15th consecutive year the companies leading in the economy of Bulgaria.Our classifications follow internationally recognized criteria and are based on ob-jective data from the financial reports of nearly 6000 companies, which have made 76,53 % of the country’s Gross Domestic Product for the year 2012. The classifications refer not only to members of BCCI, but members constitute over 66.4 % of all ranked companies, and are a worthy model of how to surmount the dif-ficulties of the current economic situation, an example of flexibility, sustainability, innovation and efficiency.Companies are classified on dynamic indicators, such as:• “Alteration of net sales revenue for 2012/2011”• “Maximum profit on 100 BGN equity in 2012”• The new category, enjoined by the conditions of work, is “Decrease in the liabili-ties in 2012 compared to 2011, with a positive financial result and increase in the net sales revenue in 2012 compared to 2011”Prior condition for all partaking in the classifications is the companies to have end-ed the year 2012 with a profit and net sales revenue exceeding 100 000 BGN in 2011.50 companies, classified according to the alteration of the financial result in 2012 and 2011, have been displayed – which survived the hardships and suc-ceeded in overwhelming them, as well as the TOP 10Х6 classification of com-panies with maximum value of sales revenue for 2012 in the national regions of planning. South East Europe - Transnational Cooperation Programme

The MILD HOME project (My Modular, Intelligent, Low cost, Do it yourself, nearly zero energy House for our Eco Green Village) is financed under the South East Europe – Transnational Cooperation Programme.

The main purpose of the project is to define the parameters and to design a “MILD HOME” – a pattern for the construction of Eco Green Villages with nearly zero energy consumption and eco waste management on the territory of South East Europe.

The project foresees the creation of a network of MILD HOME experts that will generalize best practices from Northern and Central Europe and apply them into the building of Eco Green Villages taking into account the specific geographical, climate and cultural characteristics of the South East Europe region. The project partners will compose a database of suppliers of materials and elements for the building of Eco Green Villages and will disseminate the project results amongst policy makers, governmental and local administration, investors and citizens.

The project consortium includes 11 organizations of six EU member countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Romania and Hungary), one partner organization from Serbia and 8 municipalities that will take part in the project implementation as observers.

1973Industry leaders in the United States select a single standard for product identification (the Universal Product Code) over seven other options. This barcode is still in use and known today as the GS1® barcode.

1974The Uniform Code Council (UCC) is established in the U.S. as a not‑for‑profit standards organization (GS1 US™).On April 26th, a pack of Wrigley’s gum becomes the first product to be scanned with a GS1 barcode in a Marsh supermarket in Ohio, United States.

1976Based on the original GS1 barcode, a 13th digit is engineered, allowing the identification system to go global.

1977The European Article Numbering (EAN) Association is established as an international not‑for‑profit standards organisation (GS1). With a head office in Brussels, Belgium, the EAN Association has 12 founding Member Organisations from European countries. Together, they launch the GS1 identification system to improve supply chain efficiency in the retail sector.

1983GS1 Standards expand beyond point-of-sale consumer units with ITF-14 barcodes for outer cases.

1989GS1 Standards expand to logistics units with GS1-128 barcodes. These barcodes include GS1 Application Identifiers, which encode more detailed product information.GS1 takes the first step into eBusiness with the original version of the EANCOM Manual, an international standard for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

1990The UCC (GS1 US) and EAN International (GS1) sign a cooperative agreement formalising their intent to co-manage global standards. With this agreement, GS1 has presence in 45 countries.

1995GS1 expands the use of GS1 Standards in the healthcare sector with the first Healthcare Collaboration Project.

1996SC31, the International Organisation for Standardisation’s committee for automatic identification and data capture standards, is launched, signifying international cooperation around the development and use of new standards.

1999The Auto‑ID Centre at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is launched, leading to the development of the Electronic Product Code™ (EPC®).Specifications for the GS1 DataBar™ (a reduced space symbology) are approved.

2000At the start of the new millennium, GS1 has presence in 90 countries.

2002The Global Standards Management Process (GSMP) is launched, providing a global forum for GS1 members to discuss and establish new standardsbased solutions for their businesses.

2003GS1 forms EPCglobal and initiates the development of the EPCglobalarchitecture and standards.The GS1 DataMatrix (the first twodimensional symbol adopted by GS1) is approved.

2004GS1 publishes the business message standards (using XML) and the first standard for Radio Frequency Identification (Gen2).The Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN), a global, internet‑based initiative that enables trading partners to efficiently exchange product master data, is launched.

2005The new name for the organisation, GS1, is launched worldwide.

2007The World Customs Organisation and GS1 sign a Memorandum of Understanding, agreeing to support and encourage the harmonisation of standards in the customs sector.GS1 enters the world of Business‑to‑Consumer (B2C) solutions. The aim is to provide open standards to link product information with consumers and businesses through mobile devices.

2011GS1 expands its offerings with the approval of the GS1 QR Code.

2013With presence in 111 countries, GS1 celebrates 40 years of the Global Language of Business.
