2012 The Estates Cabernet Sauvignon

OverviewIn 1997, we planted our first vines in the Eastern Washington In 1997, we planted our first vines in the Eastern Washington AVAs of the Columbia Valley and Wahluke Slope. At first glance, Eastern Washington is not your typical wine country. It’s a remote, windswept, high desert dotted with sagebrush and tumbleweeds. But our family had been farming here since the mid-1950s, and we believed the region’s moderate temperatures, low rainfall and sandy soils were ideal for grapes. Eight years later we started producing our own wines from the best vineyard blocks. Today, producing our own wines from the best vineyard blocks. Today, winemaker Joshua Maloney is handcrafting an award-winning spectrum of Milbrandt Vineyards wines from across our renowned estate vineyards.

-Butch & Jerry MilbrandtVineyardsThe grapes for the 2012 bottling of the Estates Cabernet Sauvignon came from some of our best vineyards in the Wahluke Sauvignon came from some of our best vineyards in the Wahluke Slope AVA. Tasting NotesOur 2012 estate bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon is filled with aromas of plum, black cherry, black currant, black licorice, with notes of mocha and espresso. The palate has dense chewy tannins, with a broad viscous midpalate, followed by a very long tannins, with a broad viscous midpalate, followed by a very long finish. This wine pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as steak, lamb and duck.

Words from the Winemaker“The 2012 vintage was as close as we've ever seen to a "perfect vintage" - warm but not too hot, with plenty of hang time for the flavors to develop. This is a blend of our best vineyards and displays wonderful Cab essence in the nose and on the palate. It's displays wonderful Cab essence in the nose and on the palate. It's also the first Estate Cab we've produced that was completely unfined and unfiltered.” -Joshua Maloney_
