  • PYROTECHNICS CAPABILITIES

MIL-SPEC INDUSTRIES has a joint venture production facility to enhance and grow the technology

and production of special pyrotechnic devices. We specialize in providing difficult-to-produce

pyrotechnic compositions. The facility is situated on 78 acres of land, and consists of specially

designed buildings with reinforced structures. Additionally, the production facility includes explosive

    storage bunkers.

We offer a wide variety of explosive and pyrotechnic compositions in powder, free-flowing granular, and pellet forms.

Delay compositions include Manganese, Tungsten, Zirconium/Nickel and Boron/Barium Chromate formulations. Burning

rates range from 0.025 to 42 seconds per inch.

Ignition Compositions include A-1A Gasless Ignition Powder, MTV Boron/Barium

Chromate and Boron Potassium Nitrate (BKNO3). Other standard compositions include, but

not limited to various tracer compositions and others developed to customer specifications.

Many other materials are pelletized, including PBXN-5, Black Powder and various RDX

compositions. Assemblies and loaded devices are also part of our capabilities and product

line. They include Delay Cartridges, Tracers, Boosters, Leads, Fuzes, Explosive Fittings,

Igniters, Rocket Igniters, and Components for consumable ammunition.

Loading and Assembly capability ranges from small quantities of special development units to a million or more

production units, manufactured under ISO 9001:2008 and SPC controls.

Pelleting Presses can produce pellets in many configurations with diameters from 1/16 to 3 ½ inches (1.58 to 88.9 mm).

Quality Assurance is our 1st priority. Our offered pyrotechnic materials have demonstrated specific advantages over those

processed solely to U.S. military specifications. They include:

∙ Improved flow characteristics and integrity of mix ∙ Superior properties of the consolidated material

∙ More consistency ∙ Better batch-to-batch reproducibility ∙ Ease and versatility of loading

Mil-Spec Industries specializes in providing difficult-to-produce pyrotechnic compositions in powder, granular and pellet form. In-house pelletizing facilities can support rates of up to 200,000 per day.

Variations – Mil-Spec Industries has the research and development capabilities to modify existing delay, tracer, ignition and other pyrotechnic compositions, or create new formulations. Many pyrotechnic and explosive compositions are available in pellet form. Sizes range from 1/16 inch to 3-1/2 inches (1.58 to 88.9 millimeters). Configurations include cylindrical, bi-convex, cored and specialty shapes (kidney, triangular, notched, etc.).

Configurations can be modified to meet specific customer requirements. Characteristics – Characteristics are listed for just a few of the compositions available. Two categories are described - delay and ignition; they are indicative of the range of formulations. For more information, contact a Mil-Spec representative.

    Point Detonating Fuze Assembly

    M505A3

    Point Detonating Fuze Assembly

M505A3 Fuze Assembly is a mechanical point detonating super-quick fuze for 20MM and

25MM HE, HEI, & HEIT ammunition and is predominantly used against light ground targets

and air-to-air engagements. The initiating explosive element for the M505A3 Fuze consists of a

M57A1 Stab Detonator, sealed and staked within a Rotor Ball type S&A Device and restrained

in a safe position by a C-shaped Detent Spring engaged in the shoulder of the Rotor Ball. The

output energy of the M505A3 Fuze is derived from a Booster Assembly sealed and torqued in

the aft end of the fuze.

    40 MM Parachute Assemblies

    40 MM

    Parachute Assemblies

Approximately 2 seconds after firing, the delay element ignites the ejection

charge/candle. The ignition charge ignites the illumination candle canister, and

the ejection charge ejects the parachute/candle assembly out the front end of

the projectile. The parachute deploys upon ejection and provides the visual

light for approximately 45 seconds while descending.

    M781

    40MM Practice Cartridge

    M781

    40MM Practice Cartridge

M781 is a fixed, practice-type ammunition designed for firing from 40 MM grenade

launchers M79 and M203. This cartridge is a fixed round of ammunition consisting

of a metal projectile body with a rotating band and a cartridge case assembly. A

hollow plastic ogive is filled with a high visibility yellow-orange dye. A .38 caliber

blank cartridge is press-fitted into the base of the cartridge case and provides the

gas pressure needed to propel the projectile through the launcher barrel. Projectile

    range of 200-300 meters.

    M49-A1

    Surface Trip Flare

    M49-A1

    Surface Trip Flare

M49-A1 Surface Trip Flare is used for

    illuminating encampment perimeters or

as a booby trap signal. The flare may

be fired by releasing the trigger or by

removing a pull pin. If a tripwire is

used, cutting or breaking the tripwire

will also fire the unit. Upon activation

the M49-A1 burns for a minimum of

55 seconds and with an average

    luminosity of 35,000 candle power.

    MK 124

    Smoke & Illumination Signal

MK 124 Smoke & Illumination Signal

This signal consists of an aluminum case with protective caps on each end. The case has

two raised beads around the circumference for positive flare identification during night use.

The case contains four sub-assemblies: smoke candle, smoke igniter, flare candle, and flare

igniter. The igniter consists of an arming lever that must be extended before functioning

and a mechanism that cocks and then releases the firing pin.

    40MM Non-Lethal

    Marking Cartridge

    40MM Non-Lethal

    Marking Cartridge

This round provides a non-lethal point control measure on a targeted individual. The

projectile has a crushable rubber nose and a hollow internal cavity which houses the

liquid payload. On impact, the internal cavity ruptures. This action transfers kinetic

energy as well as the payload to the target, allowing effective delivery of a variety of

    non-lethal liquid payloads.
