December 2010 – PresentGlobal Software Procurement Manager

Responsible for managing and leading a team currently consisting of 17 procurement professionals. The team is responsible for managing a global software supply base and also “vertical” engagements with non-managed suppliers in EMEA my company’s IT outsourcing client base. The team has to balance the dynamics of constant new engagements on behalf of my company’s Enterprise Services (ES) business and IT, meeting client engaging deadline’s and transformation plans to ensure conformity while strategically managing the software supply base.Negotiate the best/world class terms, conditions and costs of software licensing at all supplier levels, tier 1, 2 and 3.Responsible for the selection and qualification of new suppliers in alignment with key IT and ES stakeholders to implement new or improved solutions for both internal employee use and external support of various clients in multiple industry sectors. Escalation point for software related issues within the EMEA region maintaining a close relationship with ES supply chain executives.Achievements

Consistently over achieved against savings targets. FY 15 savings $49M against a target of $42M (120%) and avoidance of $108M against a target of $39M (280%)VOW employee engagement score was 100% in FY14Team is 100% compliant on contracting documentation standards. November 2009 – December 2010Global End User Hardware Procurement ManagerResponsible for managing a team of 13 senior procurement professionals globally. Managing the supply of all end-user PC’s and Industry standard servers in support of outsourced service clientele. The team is responsible for managing and negotiating all 3rd party relationships and internal product business units. Annual spend managed by the team is in excess of $800M USD.

Achievements

Led the development and execution that significantly exceeded savings target. The team achieved = $40.2M against a target of $22.2M (180%). Managed and lead the global End User Computing Team through integration and the formulation of a new company operating model. Led the procurement x86 industry standard server team and collaborated with the internal business unit through internal negotiations to drive discount level improvements for the outsourcing delivery business. Led a program to reduce & consolidate the supply base covering niche suppliers. Challenged the status quo and perceived “normal” operating model by formalizing relationship with cable suppliers that have acted and operated in a unique legacy business model where excessive mark-up’s are prevalent.

May 2007 – October 2009 EMEA Software Procurement Manager

Responsible for managing and leading the software procurement and purchasing function within Europe, Middle East and Africa.My responsibilities included managing a team of 10 procurement professionals purchasing software products for internal and trade use. Annual spend managed is in excess of $500M USD.My objectives were to reduce overall cost of purchasing, developing an approved supplier list, approved technology list through standardizing business demand and organizing and implementing the most efficient supply chain for software products and 3rd party support and maintenance.

Achievements

Achieved and exceeded annual savings target set. (225% of target for FY09) for all internal business units.The EMEA software procurement team was formed in 2007, I have been successful in bringing the team together and changing the team member’s operational mind set, most of the team had a country specific bias which has now changed to a regional team mentality. This brought many challenges in working and changing attitudes and expectations of a very diverse set of cultural backgrounds.I led the team towards integrating, consolidating and controlling the supply based used from my company and a major acquisition with the objective of reducing from ~1200 suppliers to 200.

December 2003 – May 2007 Outsourcing Procurement Manager

Responsible for managing and leading the procurement and purchasing function during outsourcing projects. Specifically focused on the pursuit, due diligence, transition and transformation phases of IT outsourcing deals.Working with IT professionals to provide a solution for the provision of goods and services to each client.As a member of the deal core team, responsible to lead and orchestrate the procurement deliverables worldwide from pursuit through to transformationLead and accountable for all procurement related activities and deliverables throughout the different deal phases (Pursuit, Transition Planning, Transition Execution and Transformation) in all geographies.Manage project plan, staffing requirements and executive communications and escalationsProvide guidelines and lead all involved procurement functions (Sub-Region leads, Commodity Managers, Country Commodity Managers and Country Buyers)

Achievements

I have led the procurement activities on several major outsourcing projects, structured defined and implemented supply chain organizations and processes. Transitioning and transforming customer 3rd party supplier environments.Responsible for achieving greater than 25% savings from third party spend on one specific outsourcing deal that was at high risk for the company and reinstating credibility for the procurement function within the client management and delivery organization.In several other outsourcing deals I developed and successfully implemented an end to end procurement and purchasing process to cover the delivery and installation process, project work, transformation supply chain and delivery of steady state product requirement. Developed published product catalogue in order to up-sell extra products to the customer’s. Involves managing internal and external pricing and care pack costings. Set up buffer stocking process and supply chain in order to satisfy fulfillment needs.Developed and published a guide to Contract Assignment and the options and benefits associated with particular strategies, this is still in use by the pursuit team today.Also lead a global training and process development initiative designed to pass on knowledge and expertise in Procurement outsourcing activities to other regional teams. The goal was to implement globally consistent deal pursuit and delivery processes.

May 2001 – January 2003Global Procurement Program Manager (Indirect services)

Leading a global strategy development team within the Indirect Procurement department, responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies in all regions for marketing commodities. Primary responsibility is project managing and leading the marketing print and collateral team in developing a companywide strategy while delivering to the needs of the marketing professionals. Managed spend is in excess of $50M, the team was made up of several people located in all regions (Asia, EMEA, and North America). Responsibilities also include stakeholder alignment and communication with the global brand and communications organization in order to advise on best practice, emerging techniques and technologies, industry trends, and strategy development.

Prior to the leading the print and collateral team I was a team member on the market intelligence strategy development team, specifically responsible for the implementation and execution of a global purchasing strategy.

Achievements

Market intelligence strategy was implemented saving several millions of dollars and aligning the business with an approved supplier catalogue. The market intelligence supply base is now consolidated which involved supplier selection and negotiation, at improved rates and terms, several global contracts for market intelligence.Led the global print and marketing collateral team in developing and implementing a purchasing strategy based upon internet based tools and processes. These tools and processes have saved $M’s by operational efficiency gains and tangible reductions in product and logistics costs.Led the redefinition of the strategy goals to incorporate more value in the management of digital assets and content management.

October 1999 – May 2001Procurement Specialist / Relationship ManagerManufacturing tape drive division

Responsibilities:To manage the relationship with strategic partners for the supply of Asics and memory. Critical to all new product tape drive development.To manage the supply of all production memory and ASIC devices.

AchievementsDesigned and implemented lean supply and vendor managed inventory model for memory supply to contract manufacturers.Developed a relationship/alliance management model to allow closer strategical alignment with several partner suppliers.Project managed the supply of several “critical path” ASICs for the launch of the divisions data storage device. Negotiated the cost of ASIC’s and kept them to a minimum during a time of allocation and supplier strength.

August 1998 – October 1999Procurement Specialist Manufacturing tape drive division

Responsibilities:Managed the on site support and representation of three suppliers.Member of OEM NPI teams, responsible for sourcing strategy and materials representation during NPI.Materials representative for reseller launch procurement activities.Divisional commercial software representative responsible for developing the storage software procurement strategy and managing new software providers during new product/technology implementations.

AchievementsDeveloped and implemented the Supplier Service Initiative within the manufacturing division. – A program which integrated several suppliers into the organization and located within the company premises to enable a more agile and flexible supply base.Developed and implemented vendor managed inventory programs to locally support the reseller channel distribution centers.Implemented kitting and lean supply model for accessories to support the Select Express program (a reseller supply program) in Europe.

Developed a solution for Vendor managed inventory for accessory kitting process for the reseller distribution centers.Negotiated and implemented several backup software contracts (Veritas, CA, Stac, PTI).
