MielCon• M- State main idea of paragraph – Sub A proves argument
• I- Introduce evidence – Where did document come from or what context was it
created in • E- Explain what evidence is • L- Link evidence to main idea– How does your info show that your subtopic proves your
argument • Con- Conclude main idea of paragraph
Essay• Choose a topic you are interested in!!!!!• Length–Must be around 5 pages–Must have 11 paragraphs –Must have a strong argument and 3
subtopics• Each paragraph should be MielCon• Must follow due dates
Steps • Step 1-- Find an issue that interest you• Step 2- Explore the issue (research)• Step 3- Start asking questions and looking for
answers related to your issue (focus research)• Step 4 – Develop an assumption (hypothesis, or
working thesis)• Step 5 – Research this “idea” to find out if it can be
turned into a thesis and if adequate sources are available. Must approved before moving on.
Steps • Step 6- Write argument portion of thesis-– Based on research
• Step 7- Create subtopics– Based on research
• Step 8- create Micro-topics- (paragraphs)– Based on research– Must have at least 1 piece of evidence per paragraph
• Step 9- Create outline– Due April 24-25– Should show all topics and sources
• Step 10- write paragraphs (Mielcon)for micro-topics
Important Dates • Outline – April 24-25–Need Research done–Need Argument, 3 subtopics, & all 9 micro
topics • Each piece of evidence under each micro topic
• Rough Draft- May 5-6• Final Draft – May 12
