YOU’RE INVITED“We’re All In This Together.”

You don’t hear a lot of words like this today, but it is true. Each of our members have pooled their exposures, committed their contributions and shared their loss histories for the good of all. All the more reason to come together and work together throughout the year.

New threats, new technology and economic changes require each of us to continue to respond and alter our approaches to governance. It is easier for us to do that together...none of us must do this alone! Many of our members have pretty good ideas that can also apply to our own workplace. Let us use this conference to see what they are doing.

This is your invitation to come and be with us. I hope you will take us up on this, we need you!

I have had people approach me at prior conferences and express thanks for the great event. They said they could tell considerable effort was put into the quality of the conference. This conference will be the same.

“We’re All In This Together” has been put together to address the issues of today. Quality information, content and speakers are ready for your attendance in Branson....we are ready for you!

I am certain of this, the longer we listen to one another with real attention, the more community we will find in our joint effort. Success awaits us. Come and join with us in: “We’re All In This Together...”!

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16Salvatore Giunta

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17Bill Baker

Salvatore “Sal” Augustine Giunta was born on January 21, 1985 in Clinton, Iowa. The oldest of three children of Steven—a medical equipment technician and Rosemary—a pre-school teacher, Giunta grew up in Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha, Iowa. At age 17, while working in a Subway sandwich shop, he decided to enlist and he joined the Army in November, 2003. He attended Infantry One Station Unit Training and the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, before being assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy, on May 24, 2004. Promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in 2009, Giunta completed two combat tours to Afghanistan totaling 27 months of deployment.

On October 25, 2007, while conducting a patrol as team leader, Giunta and his team were navigating through the treacherous terrain of Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley when they were ambushed by a well-armed and well-coordinated insurgent force. While under heavy enemy fire, Giunta immediately sprinted towards cover and engaged the enemy. Seeing that his squad leader had fallen and believing that he had been injured, Giunta exposed himself to withering enemy fire and raced towards his squad leader, helped him to cover and administered medical aid. While administering first aid, enemy fire struck Giunta’s body armor and his secondary weapon. Attempting to reach additional wounded fellow soldiers who were separated from the squad, Giunta and his team encountered a barrage of enemy fire that forced them to the ground. The team continued forward and upon reaching the wounded soldiers, Giunta realized that another soldier was still separated from the element. Giunta then advanced forward on his own initiative. As he crested the top of a hill, he observed two insurgents carrying away an American soldier. He immediately engaged the enemy, killing one and wounding the other. Upon reaching the wounded soldier, he began to provide medical aid, as his squad caught up and provided security.

For his extraordinary gallantry, unrivalled courage and selfless leadership in action on October 25, 2007, Giunta was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama in a White House ceremony on November 16, 2010. Staff Sgt. Giunta was the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor for service in Iraq or Afghanistan, the first living service member to be awarded the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War and the eighth service member to receive the nation’s highest military decoration for valor in Iraq and Afghanistan. He would later choose to bequeath his medal to his brigade, stating that it doesn’t belong to him alone, but to all the men and women who served alongside him. He currently resides in Colorado with his wife Jennifer Giunta and their children.

Since Bill first learned to talk, he has been telling stories: to grandparents, teachers, bus drivers, that nice lady at the grocery store…anyone who would listen. Early on, Bill recognized the profound impact that stories had on people, especially in their ability to connect them to ideas, shape the way they think and feel, and motivate them towards a desired action. This penchant for storytelling continued into his professional career as Bill started using stories not only in his day-to-day communications, but also in his strategic brand planning efforts. As these worlds of brand strategy and storytelling collided, Bill founded BB&Co Strategic Storytelling specifically to help companies and their leaders bring more meaning, focus and productivity to their work, and therefore their workforce…strategically using the power of storytelling to do so.

BB&Co is a boutique strategic storytelling consultancy who works with clients all over the world to help them uncover the unique story of their brand or branded initiative, define a strategic vision for its future and then use both to engage, align and inspire the human energy needed to make that vision real. Based in Vancouver, Canada, BB&Co also provides storytelling training to executives and managers of many Fortune 500 companies, helping them understand how to use storytelling strategically to increase the impact and uptake of their communications. Before starting BB&Co, Bill was part of the Global Planning Group of DDB Worldwide where he helped redefine and deploy the suite of strategic and brand planning tools used across the agency’s 205 offices across the globe.

Based in Vancouver, BB&Co works with clients of all shapes and sizes all over the world, including GE, Coca-Cola, Relais & Châteaux, TELUS, Cisco, Hilton Worldwide, Travel Alberta, Pfizer, Canada Beef, The Thayer Leadership Group at West Point, Royal Botanical Gardens, the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, Irvine Company and UBC.
